I strive to make my classroom a safe and calming environment for all students, and the beanbags have enhanced this to a great degree.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the beanbag chairs they were so excited and often argue with each other (in a good way) over who gets to sit in them during free time. I have used them as a reward for on-task behavior, as a classroom management tactic for students who are struggling, and as a safe place for kids to sit while they share hard things with me. It has also enhanced my relationship building, as often the students who sit in them (they are behind my desk) start conversations with me and share things they may have otherwise kept to themselves. \r\n\r\nOverall the chairs are a huge hit and I am so thankful you helped make it happen! Caring about the small details sometimes makes the biggest difference. Rotating through regular daily use by 100+ high school students, many accessories naturally wear out, and we have to make do with electrical tape wrapping and putting together whatever we can gather. Sound becomes uneven and proper playing technique becomes quite difficult when sticks chip, crack, and even become unsafe. \r\n\r\nAs our program continues to grow, I get to see joy on the faces of students in all classes when they are given new materials and instruments to use every day. \"How did we get so many all new sticks, not passed down from some other group?\" If we receive a gift or donation, all students know the sources and get excited to make their own personal \"unboxing videos\" where they slide the paper sleeves off their new drumsticks and describe how new music equipment smells. However, they seem to be the most excited to discard mismatched, taped sticks once and for all rather than saving them for a rainy day! Now that all sticks are new, unbroken, and of matching style, we've reclaimed quite a bit of instructional time usually lost to searching for reasonable sticks that might reasonably match. The binders have also helped students stay more organized, giving them a reliable place to store notes, handouts, and problem sets.\r\n\r\nThe markers and magnets are now essential parts of our daily routine. During our most recent unit, students worked in groups at the boards to compare strategies for solving probability problems. I noticed quieter students speaking up more and taking ownership of their learning in new ways.\r\n\r\nYour gift has done more than provide supplies.
