The new technology allows me to quickly print visual supports, adapted assignments, communication tools, and hands-on learning materials that meet my students' individual needs. Having these resources readily available helps make lessons more understandable and engaging while giving students greater independence and confidence in completing their work.\r\n\r\nMy students are especially excited when they see new visuals and activities created specifically for them. Students who may struggle with traditional instruction have responded particularly well to visual directions, picture-supported activities, and customized learning materials. Seeing them become more willing to participate, complete tasks, and demonstrate what they know has been incredibly rewarding. These materials are being used daily. \r\n\r\nThe white construction paper really helps us bring our written and colored projects to life, we are able to express our story comprehension through colorful projects and detailed drawings. \r\n\r\nThe journals are used many times throughout the day. We have one for each subject and it allows students to keep them in their desk as a reference with all the work inside. Instead of the work being filed, they can use this journal to find prior concepts for testing review and to find words that they want to use while writing. \r\n\r\nThe whiteboards and erasers are probably their favorite. We practice spelling, handwriting and sentence spacing with them. In our journalism program, technology has transformed learning by allowing students to create, edit, and share videos with both the student body and the wider community. They are not just consuming information—they are applying skills in real time. Whether they are analyzing footage, organizing sequences, or collaborating on projects, students are engaging in hands-on learning that blends creativity, communication, and problem-solving. They even incorporate math as they work with timing, spacing, and layout while bringing their ideas to life.\r\n\r\nWhat excites students the most about this new technology is the sense of independence and creativity it gives them. Many of our journalism students do not have access to personal devices like iPads at home, so having this resource at school has opened new doors. They are learning to navigate an iOS system while still using the school's Microsoft-based platforms, giving them valuable experience with two major technology environments. Some students, in particular, have truly flourished—students who were once shy or hesitant now take the lead on video projects, confidently editing clips, adding effects, and experimenting with new techniques. The technology has not only enriched their academic skills but also empowered them to find their voice and share it with the entire school community.","fullyFundedDate":1758251062215,"projectUrl":"project/power-in-your-pen-creating-the-future-w/9395664/","projectTitle":"Power in Your Pen: Creating the Future with iPad Pro","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Michel","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4834156_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1787780958108","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4834156"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_45829","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":845,"numTeachers":73,"percentFrplEligible":57,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":98,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":0,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"11.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":80.3,"schoolId":45829,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Everglades K-8 Center on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Everglades K-8 Center","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/florida/miami-dade-county-public-schools/everglades-k-8-center/45829"}
