Our student store stayed stocked for a few weeks with the \"You got snacks, miss?\" We have a program here that helps stress the importance of attendance. The kids get \"paid\" for each hour they are here, and at the end of the week, after their investments and charitable donations, they get to spend their \"money\" at the student store. It helps us teachers out (we spend less of our money), and the kids are learning the value of attendance- and their dollars. There is no real money involved, but it sure has made them work hard for those snacks! I forgot to take the pictures last Friday, but I will take some THIS Friday. THANK YOU SO MUCH for all you do. One of my students has started experimenting with embroidery with the hopes of dyeing, then embroidering, then attaching patches onto a hoodie. \r\n\r\nOur first major project with these supplies will be a color wheel - in which students will cut out 6x6 inch squares, hem the edges, dye the fabric using only the primary colors, then sew the squares together to create a final art project. I anticipate that they will begin this project after fall break. \r\n\r\nMy students and I truly cannot thank you enough for your generosity. The bags will be put to great use to hold their gear. The cooling rags are great for the days when they are hot, either on the water or on the rowing machines. The deodorants will definitely be useful. \r\nWhen the students were given the bags, they were very excited. I told them they were donated, and they were very moved and appreciative. \r\nSince the picture requires no juvenile faces, I asked them to line up with the ball caps and bags on their backs for the photos. They did, then immediately wrapped their arms around each other, without any prompting. \r\nThank you so much for this donation.
