A huge part of teaching is creating an environment where students can feel confident and inspired to learn. When I first moved into my room this past school year, my room was anything but inspiring. I knew I had to do what was necessary to create the environment that my students deserved. I started by painting the yellow built-ins to tone down the bright colors in the room. Next, I set out to find furniture and supplies that would make instruction accessible for my learners. The Magnetic Whiteboard was the one thing that I didn't have but knew I needed. Thanks to Donors Choose and a few thought\\ful and generous donors, that need was fulfilled.\r\n\r\nI use the Magnetic Whiteboard on a daily basis for language arts instruction. The combination of the whiteboard and the magnetic board is useful for hands on learning because students can manipulate the cards in a variety of ways. We use letter sound cards for drills and for word building using the magnetic feature. The whiteboard feature gives me space to write on and move around the room for whole group and small group instruction . There is space at the bottom of the board to store instructional materials and supplies within reach. The students love having a whiteboard that they can reach and use. \r\n\r\nThank you for all you've done to help me bring authentic learning experiences to my students.","fullyFundedDate":1767208604323,"projectUrl":"project/encourage-collaboration-and-engagement-d/9759824/","projectTitle":"Encourage Collaboration and Engagement During Whole Group Instruction!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Thompson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6620659_orig.jpg?crop=732,732,x0,y249&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1708648845275","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6620659"},{"teacherId":9423148,"projectId":9039899,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for helping me create a brighter classroom. It's so important for elementary students to see their classroom in color. A dull classroom is a boring classroom. I love seeing my kids faces when they see a new poster or new anchor chart in color. Thank you for helping me not let technology and markers be the reason more learning isn't taking place.\r\n\r\nThe printer was a great addition to my room because it gave me the flexibility to print things that are needed quickly and not wait for another teacher to do it or going to the store to print. Sometimes teacher don't get the time to print everything in the breakroom. Having a printer in my room allows me to print things when needed. This also allows me to make changes to something in the moment for my students. \r\n\r\nThe markers allows me to create posters that are easy for kids to follow. having different steps in different colors have allowed students to easily follow along when I'm teaching. These simple but essential supplies have already made a tremendous impact on our daily learning.\r\nWe have been able to print individualized name-writing practice sheets, family communication forms, picture cards, and hands-on literacy and math activities for every child. Having enough ink and paper means I can provide students with high-quality materials that support fine motor development, early reading skills, and classroom independence. One favorite project has been printing personalized books for students to trace, color, and take home to share with their families.\r\nWhen the children saw their new printed materials—especially the ones with their names or photos—many of them smiled, pointed, and proudly said, \"That's mine!\" They love having their own copies of activities and feel excited to use materials that look bright, clean, and professional. It was heartwarming to see how something as simple as a fresh stack of colorful picture cards made them eager to learn and practice new skills.\r\nThanks to your donation, we can continue creating the visual supports and worksheets that our students rely on daily. Your support helps us maintain a clean, healthy learning environment where our little learners can explore, play, and grow safely each day.\r\nThe donated tissues, soap, wipes, and cleaning supplies have become an important part of our daily classroom routine. We use these materials to keep our learning areas clean and safe, especially during high-touch activities like centers, art time, and shared materials play. One moment that stood out was during our \"Healthy Habits\" lesson, when students practiced proper handwashing and learned why keeping our classroom clean helps us stay healthy. It was the perfect opportunity to show how your donations directly support what we teach every day.\r\nAlthough these items may seem simple, my students were genuinely excited to help unpack the donations. They love feeling responsible for keeping our classroom tidy, and seeing the new supplies made them eager to participate in our \"classroom helper\" jobs. Several students commented that the wipes \"smell clean\" and proudly reminded each other to use tissues and wash hands—small but meaningful signs that they understand the importance of staying healthy.\r\nWe are continuing to build on our \"Healthy Habits\" theme by teaching students how to take care of themselves and their learning environment. With your support, we can maintain consistent routines around cleanliness while moving forward with hands-on literacy, math, and creative projects without the worry of running out of supplies.
