In a Total Communications classroom for students with autism, visuals, structured materials, and sensory supports are essential parts of daily instruction. The color printer allows me to create clear, engaging visuals such as communication cards, schedules, and instructional materials that help students understand expectations and participate more actively in lessons.\r\n\r\nThe sensory items have also made a meaningful difference in our classroom. Many of my students benefit from sensory supports that help them regulate their emotions and stay focused during instruction. Having these tools available allows students to calm themselves, remain engaged in learning, and participate more successfully in classroom activities.\r\n\r\nItems such as Velcro and classroom materials also help transform simple resources into interactive learning supports like communication boards, task boxes, and hands-on activities. These supports encourage students to practice communication, develop independence, and stay actively involved in their learning.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, my classroom now has stronger tools to provide structured, accessible, and engaging learning opportunities for students with autism. Your generosity helps create an environment where my students can communicate more effectively, stay engaged, and experience success every day. The excitement in their eyes when they choose a new book is a reminder of the lasting impact your generosity has made.\r\n\r\nYour support directly connects to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills for 2nd grade English Language Arts and Reading. With these new books, my students are strengthening their ability to ask questions while reading, identify the central message of a story, and make personal connections. They are also developing fluency and expanding their vocabulary as they practice reading independently and in small groups. Because of you, my students now have the resources they need to meet grade-level expectations while also cultivating a genuine love for reading.\r\n\r\nOn behalf of my students and myself, thank you again for investing in their education.
