As a Literacy Interventionist, I work with students who are developing their reading skills and confidence, and having access to engaging, accessible books is absolutely essential for helping them grow as readers.\r\n\r\nThese books are already sparking excitement in my classroom. Students are drawn to the stories, topics, and covers that feel relatable and age-appropriate while still being at their reading level. Many of my students have struggled to see themselves as readers, and now they have a library full of books that make reading feel enjoyable and achievable. The rotating bookshelf has become a favorite spot in our room, showcasing new titles and helping students easily find books that match their interests.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has transformed our reading space into a welcoming, student-centered library that encourages daily reading and fosters a genuine love for books. Thank you for believing in the power of literacy and for giving my students the opportunity to build confidence and joy through reading.","fullyFundedDate":1746786471287,"projectUrl":"project/more-than-books-building-confidence-cu/9283116/","projectTitle":"More Than Books: Building Confidence, Curiosity, and Care","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. McCarthy","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9452251_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1706663707709","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/hamer2024"},{"teacherId":9452251,"projectId":9282991,"letterContent":"I want to express my sincere gratitude for your generous contribution toward my professional development resources, including several literacy-focused books and a new teacher planner. As a Literacy Interventionist, I am constantly seeking ways to deepen my understanding of how to best support struggling readers, and these materials will make an incredible difference in my planning and instruction.\r\n\r\nThe professional development books you funded will help me continue to build a strong foundation for evidence-based reading instruction and refine the strategies I share with both my students and my colleagues. Having access to high-quality texts written by leading literacy experts allows me to stay informed and inspired as I design lessons, small-group interventions, and professional learning sessions for other teachers.\r\n\r\nThe planner you provided is already becoming an essential tool for keeping track of student goals, intervention data, and reflection notes. Your support has truly empowered me to be more organized, intentional, and effective in the work I do each day. Your support means so much to me and to the young readers in my classroom. Many of my students do not often have access to high-interest, contemporary literature that reflects their lives and experiences, and this novel does exactly that. Because of you, each student can now hold their own copy, annotate, and truly engage with the story on a personal level.\r\n\r\nAlready, the excitement in the room is undeniable. Students are eager to read, discuss, and reflect on the powerful themes of grief, choices, and identity that Long Way Down explores. Having individual copies creates an inclusive classroom environment where every student can participate fully, regardless of background or resources. This donation will continue to impact future classes for years to come.\r\n\r\nThank you again for investing in literacy, representation, and the love of reading.
