Thanks to your generosity, my project was fully funded and we have been able to supply students with many needed supplies. \r\n\r\nYour contribution directly provided my students with snacks, toiletries, and school supplies. These items are far more than just supplies; they are tools that have transformed our learning environment and afforded opportunities for students to be their best in our school. Students have also been stopping by to check in to say hello and take a fidget or stress toy to help them emotionally manage their day. They have also been enjoying the snacks and treats. It has been wonderful to see the small things that make such a big difference! Because of your generosity and support, the Donor's Choose project to secure a life-size, articulated skeleton model for our High School Anatomy and Physiology course has been fully funded and delivered!\r\n\r\nWe are thrilled to introduce the newest (and oldest) member of our science lab: \"Bones.\"\r\n\r\nBefore Bones arrived, our students faced a significant learning hurdle. High school Anatomy and Physiology is highly specialized; it requires students to visualize complex, three-dimensional spatial relationships. We relied heavily on textbooks, digital diagrams, and small, fragile desk models. While helpful, these resources simply cannot convey the scale, articulation, and intricate detail of the human skeletal system. Students often struggled to mentally transpose a flat diagram into the reality of a 6-foot-tall human body, leading to frustration and superficial memorization.\r\n\r\nThis new, life-size skeleton model instantly transforms that challenge into an opportunity. Bones provides a central, concrete reference point that anchors every subsequent lesson. It allows students to physically touch, measure, and manipulate the structure. This is not just a visual aid; it's a tactile learning tool that engages kinesthetic learners and elevates spatial reasoning skills—a critical prerequisite for success in any medical or allied health field. This model moves our curriculum from memorizing parts to understanding structure and function.\r\n\r\nThe Immediate and Lasting Impact\r\nThis model isn't just for one unit; it will be integrated across several key lessons and projects throughout the semester, serving as an indispensable resource for hundreds of students over its long life.","fullyFundedDate":1753101958927,"projectUrl":"project/life-size-skeleton-model-enhancing-hand/9335817/","projectTitle":"Life-Size Skeleton Model: Enhancing Hands-On Anatomy/Physiology Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Pompano","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10028284"},{"teacherId":10028284,"projectId":9335686,"letterContent":"We are writing to express our sincere appreciation and provide a comprehensive update on the impact of your funding for the \"Life-Size Skeleton Model: Enhancing Hands-On Anatomy/Physiology Learning\" project. Your generous commitment has successfully equipped our Anatomy and Physiology classroom with a professional-grade, articulated skeleton model, transforming our instructional capabilities and significantly enhancing the student experience.\r\n\r\nBefore receiving this resource, our study of the human body's framework relied primarily on two-dimensional methods—digital projections, labeled diagrams, and printed charts. While these tools cover the material, they inherently fail to capture the complexity and spatial relationships of a three-dimensional structure. The acquisition of this life-size model means that our students now engage with the skeletal system through direct, tactile interaction, an essential component of authentic scientific learning. We want to detail how this investment has directly impacted both student learning outcomes and our teaching methodology.","fullyFundedDate":1749151722104,"projectUrl":"project/life-size-skeleton-model-enhancing-hand/9335686/","projectTitle":"Life-Size Skeleton Model: Enhancing Hands-On Anatomy/Physiology Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Pompano","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10028284"},{"teacherId":9463079,"projectId":9288353,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your support of my students in our classroom. I am not great with thank you's as I am crazy busy working with the kids all the time. I promise I will improve on this aspect. \r\n\r\nI don't know what it is this year, but kids seem to be having a more difficult time with focus- truly, I think that Covid has had a longer impact on kids than we all expected. So, I would like to let you know how much of a positive, relaxing feeling it was for kids to come to the library to complete very involved lego projects. No only are thinking mathematically and scientifically, they are experiencing a small-snippets of time where they can rejuvenate and ground themselves. I can't thank you enough. \r\n\r\nWe are having an evening Capstone event where the legos can be viewed, Wednesday, December 11, 2024 and I would like to invite any of our donors to participate. The address is 35 Wheelbarrow Lane in East Haven, CT. We will be here 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. If you decide to join us, our culinary students will be offering some wonderful treats as well.","fullyFundedDate":1723651837735,"projectUrl":"project/students-work-on-relaxation-and-coping-s/8641750/","projectTitle":"Students Work on Relaxation and Coping Skills Through Building!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Robinson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp5024399_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1512604695598","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrsrobinsonclassroom"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_43950","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":879,"numTeachers":72,"percentFrplEligible":78,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":6,"percentWhite":45,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":41,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"12.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":75.4,"schoolId":43950,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about East Haven High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"East Haven High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/connecticut/east-haven-school-district/east-haven-high-school/43950"}
