This technology is significantly elevating the quality of language instruction in our classroom. Headphones allow each student to focus without distraction, creating a controlled environment for language models, listening comprehension, pronunciation practice, and speaking assessments. The microphones, in particular, support accurate speaking practice, real-time feedback, and oral fluency development, which are essential components of language acquisition. Students are learning to communicate more confidently because they can listen closely, speak clearly, and review their own progress in a structured and supportive way.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting aspect for students is the opportunity to record their voices and participate in interactive speaking activities that feel both personal and empowering. Many of my students are shy or self-conscious when speaking English publicly. With this technology, they are willing to take more risks and practice more frequently because they know their voices will be heard clearly and privately. One student who arrived this year with very limited English has shown remarkable growth. He began the semester reluctant to speak in class, but with the microphones he now practices daily, submits voice assignments enthusiastically, and has even volunteered to read aloud. His confidence and participation have increased noticeably.\r\n\r\nYour generosity directly impacts student learning by strengthening academic language skills, reducing anxiety, and creating equitable access to digital tools used in higher education and the workplace. Thank you for investing in their future and helping empower these young multilingual scholars to find their voice.","fullyFundedDate":1761237515664,"projectUrl":"project/help-english-learners-practice-speaking/9672670/","projectTitle":"Help English Learners Practice Speaking!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Cloninger","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9350173"},{"teacherId":8862452,"projectId":9425487,"letterContent":"I would like to take the time to thank you for the generous donation for my Financial Literacy class. With a class full of Seniors, this has given them the ability to work hands on with the cash and build life skills for future jobs.\r\nMy students do not have the same opportunities as other students, so having these registers has impacted them immeasurably. The new resources have guided me to reflect more deeply on my instruction, identify barriers for students, and implement scaffolds that allow every learner to access rigorous opportunities like the IB Middle Years Programme Personal Project. This reflection has already made me a stronger educator and a more thoughtful advocate for equity.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite classroom moments came when a newcomer student, who had previously struggled to express ideas in English, was able to present a Personal Project plan using sentence frames and bilingual scaffolds I developed through this certification process. The pride on their face and the applause from their peers reminded me why this work matters. Your contribution made moments like this possible by giving me the tools to better support language development while maintaining high expectations.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, I am eager to grow further in designing translanguaging strategies and building students' confidence in both academic English and their home languages. I am especially excited about continuing to expand our Personal Project supports so that ELLs can fully participate in an IB education and see themselves as capable, creative learners.
