Many students continue to get excluded from in person learning. This is due to COVID and/or exposure determined by contact tracing. As a result, students are missing valuable instructional class time. They are expected to learn from home while they are excluded and when this happens they miss up to ten consecutive class periods. This makes it impossible for them to participate in a regular classroom setting during these exclusion days. Teachers try to help by recording videos of the lessons, but with videos, students can't ask questions. Teachers also try to help these students by Zooming class or having Teams meetings during class. Unfortunately, desktop and laptop computers require teachers to stay in front of the device. This does not allow us to walk around to help in class students while streaming the class live with those students learning from home. Either the at home students or in class students tend to miss out on critical needs/attention from the teacher. This in turn leads to teachers not being able to respond to students questions, comments, or concerns. With a MacBook a teacher can hold it and walk around while helping both groups of students. This will help with all Nevada Academic Content Standards in Mathematics. The Standards expect students to use appropriate tools. This includes the use of technology to solve problems and model mathematics. Students and teachers will be able to use this technology to graph, solve, and model mathematics. There is no one specific math standard this will address; it addresses them all.
