As a school counselor, I am always looking for ways to expand the resources I provide about college and career readiness while strengthening my counseling practices to better support my students' needs. These books allow me to do both.\r\n\r\nThese new texts have introduced valuable skills such as motivational interviewing, solution-focused counseling strategies, and practical approaches for helping students explore career pathways, search for scholarships, and better understand financial aid and college planning.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments since receiving these books was sharing this information with the Class of 2027 class officers while discussing ideas for senior year activities. Using strategies from these resources, we talked about career interests and post-graduation plans, and together we came up with the idea of hosting a Senior College and Career Signing Day to celebrate students' goals after high school. Seeing their excitement and motivation reminded me why these resources matter.\r\n\r\nBecause of the generosity of donors, I now have tools that strengthen my counseling practice and open doors for students who may not otherwise have access to this information. I am truly grateful for the support that helps me empower students with knowledge, confidence, and opportunities for their futures.","fullyFundedDate":1765461199812,"projectUrl":"project/learning-to-lead-listen-and-lift-up/9614868/","projectTitle":"Learning to Lead, Listen, and Lift Up","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Williams","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9820207_orig.jpg?crop=743,743,x286,y34&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755410950062","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9820207"},{"teacherId":9704654,"projectId":9634108,"letterContent":"I am writing to thank you again for your help and generosity with our book project -- and to share with you a few of the 'wins' from our reading. I was initially concerned that a novel by Albert Camus might be too difficult for the students, but my fears were quickly alleviated. The students loved the book and, while they hated the choices of the main character, they made clear connections between the plot and the philosophy of living espoused by Camus. One Senior even decided he himself was an existentialist - having never had the word or definition to compare to his own prior thinking. (He also explained murder was decidedly 'not existential'). \r\n\r\nMore importantly, having the physical books allowed the students to more easily move back and forth through the text and track important ideas like character, setting, and theme. Also - having the physical book allowed them to disconnect from technology, if only for a short while each time. \r\n\r\nDue to an odd fluke of ordering, we were also able to purchase the graphic novel Watchmen for the students to read after The Stranger. This gave the students a great opportunity to study a graphic novel while connecting those major themes to the ones found in Camus. All of this was possible because of your support.","fullyFundedDate":1760277412136,"projectUrl":"project/2-novels-from-albert-camus/9634108/","projectTitle":"2 Novels From Albert Camus","teacherDisplayName":"Dr. Michael Buso","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9704654_orig.png?crop=2316,2316,x0,y524&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1724525512547","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9704654"},{"teacherId":576089,"projectId":8703734,"letterContent":"From the bottom of our hearts, we THANK YOU for your grace and generosity to the DHS Instrumental Music Program! The result of the use of the tuners was another year of STRAIGHT superior ratings for both band and orchestra. Band had all superior ratings in every category! It was an absolutely GREAT year as a result.\r\n\r\nWith recent cuts to all of the schools in our district, my students do not take the giving you've done for us lightly. They are grateful and thankful. A few of them are still amazed that some 'strangers' are donating money for them to get the supplies and equipment they need. \r\n\r\nAgain, on behalf of my students, THANK YOU for your generosity.
