My school is actively building a STEAM program and vigorously looking for ways to engage students in meaningful activities in school and after school enrichment programs. We plan to incorporate the 3D printer into our Science, Technology, Art, and Mathematics curriculum. The following examples are just part of the numerous lessons that the availability of the printer will make possible; Students will design DNA and Water molecules using the knowledge of the structure and property of the components. The effect of Nitrogen base, deoxyribose sugar and phosphate design on the overall structure of DNA will become very clear to students. They will also investigate variables that impact density, and several other physical, chemical and earth science concepts.
