This project has allowed us to dramatically expand the flexibility of our classroom, empowering students to take real ownership of how they learn and collaborate. They thrive when the environment adapts to their needs, and these materials have helped foster creativity, problem-solving, teamwork, and a strong sense of community.\r\n\r\nThe impact of these resources has been both practical and inspiring. The chalkboard materials were transformed into two rolling blackboards built from old COVID barriers, turning what would have been wasted materials into prized classroom resources. These mobile chalkboards have become hubs for brainstorming, problem-solving, and immediate feedback, maximizing flexibility while modeling creativity and sustainability. Students love being able to gather, think aloud, and make their learning visible in shared spaces.\r\n\r\nThe laptop stand and projector tripod have truly upped our game in small-group instruction. Working alongside a co-teacher, we're now able to run two distinct learning spaces at the same time, with one teacher leading instruction in one area while the other uses the projector and laptop to guide a separate group with full access to digital tools for exploration and discussion. The standing table has also been essential, especially with class sizes reaching up to 40 students, allowing us to thoughtfully use every inch of our classroom while keeping students energized and engaged. These materials haven't just filled our room, they've transformed it into a flexible, collaborative environment where students are empowered to drive their learning forward every day.","fullyFundedDate":1746455455635,"projectUrl":"project/crafting-a-classroom-for-collaboration-a/9286127/","projectTitle":"Crafting a Classroom for Collaboration and Creativity","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Beyronneau","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4688445_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x403,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1689443870551","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4688445"},{"teacherId":4688445,"projectId":9286387,"letterContent":"My students are bright, caring, and deeply curious about the world around them, and this project has helped turn that curiosity into connection. By building a vibrant classroom library filled with diverse, award-winning books, we've created opportunities for students to explore identity, ask meaningful questions, and see themselves and others reflected in the stories they read. These books have become more than reading material, they've become conversation starters and bridges between students from different backgrounds, helping us grow a classroom community where every voice truly matters.\r\n\r\nProviding two copies of each book has been especially powerful. Students who love reading often want to connect with others who share that passion, and pair reads offer a lower-stress, more personal way to do that than jumping into a full club discussion. Through reading alongside a peer, students who may have felt more on their own have been able to form friendships, build confidence, and experience the joy of sharing ideas through literature. The growing Book Club has become a welcoming space to borrow books, exchange perspectives, and strengthen those connections over time.\r\n\r\nThe variety of books made possible through this generous funding has also expanded students' horizons. They've been excited to explore themes and voices they might not have chosen on their own, deepening both empathy and engagement. I've watched connections bloom, grow, and thrive as students bond over stories and shared discovery, and I am incredibly grateful for the support that made this library possible. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for helping us build a more connected, compassionate community through books.","fullyFundedDate":1746808031271,"projectUrl":"project/building-a-library-of-friendship-conver/9286387/","projectTitle":"Building a Library of Friendship, Conversation, and Community","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Beyronneau","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4688445_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x403,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1689443870551","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4688445"},{"teacherId":4688445,"projectId":9232212,"letterContent":"This summer reading project has been an exciting and meaningful experience for our book club students because they are reading books they genuinely chose and were eager to dive into. Having ownership over the selections made the reading feel joyful rather than assigned, and students have been highly engaged with the stories throughout the summer. Because they love the books, they are motivated to keep reading, reflect more deeply, and share their thoughts as the stories unfold.\r\n\r\nThe books have also become a powerful connection point between students, even while school is out. As they read, students are chatting about the stories in person, on the phone, and through our book club Instagram, building relationships and a sense of community around a shared passion for reading. These conversations help students feel connected to one another and to the club, even when they aren't physically together, and reinforce that reading can be both social and fun.\r\n\r\nPerhaps most importantly, the summer books allow us to hit the ground running when we return to school. Because onboarding new members takes time at the start of the year, having returning students already engaged in shared texts gives us a strong foundation for discussion, leadership, and momentum from day one. This project ensures that our book club starts the year energized, connected, and ready to welcome new members into an already thriving reading community.","fullyFundedDate":1745269794577,"projectUrl":"project/booked-for-the-summer-stories-that-stic/9232212/","projectTitle":"Booked for the Summer: Stories That Stick With You","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Beyronneau","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4688445_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x403,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1689443870551","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4688445"},{"teacherId":4688445,"projectId":9166936,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our classroom and helping bring adjustable-height glasstop tables into our learning space. In our room, learning is active, collaborative, and constantly in motion, and these tables have made that vision possible. They give students meaningful choice in how they work—standing for focus, sitting for comfort, or using the clear surface to brainstorm and problem-solve together. The flexibility has helped create an environment where students feel energized, confident, and truly in control of their learning experience.\r\n\r\nThis year, their impact has been especially powerful. My classes are larger, with my biggest class reaching 40 students, and the tables have allowed us to flexibly break into small groups to better support learning. They've provided alternative seating options for students who need to stand, sit more upright, or move throughout class, including a student with a bad back who now has a much more comfortable way to participate. We've also discovered that the clear surface is an incredible support for my visually impaired student, allowing her to map out her thinking in a way that works best for her. Because of this success, her case carrier is now working to place similar tables in other classrooms as well.\r\n\r\nWhat makes my students special is their curiosity and drive—they want to engage, explore, and collaborate, and your generosity has given them the right tools to do just that. Initially they were relucant to make the treats but once we completed the first week of dog treat production and they could see the number of dog treats they helped create, they got excited about the revenue (and activities) that selling the dog treats would provide. \r\n\r\nIn early November, I asked each student to take some sample dog treats home and have their dogs try them out. I asked each parent to take a picture of their child as they were trying out the treats. I then displayed these pictures in class so students could share about their own dog and whether or not they liked \"cheese dog treats\" or \"peanut butter dog treats\". Students were very excited to be given opportunity to share about their own dogs. \r\n\r\nWe then wrapped up our semester by selling the dog treats at our Winter Craft Fair. It was during this time some customers learned about the project and a local news station wanted to come and see the dog treat production \"in action\". In our high school, all students take the STAR assessment, and we wanted to create a meaningful way to celebrate those who met standards and encourage every student to do their best. Students who met benchmark earned a special recognition pass inviting them to \"The Nest,\" where they received a STAR sticker, popcorn, and a drink. When students first learned about the recognition, their excitement was immediate. Many proudly showed their passes to peers and staff, and the atmosphere felt celebratory and motivating. The positive reinforcement helped students feel seen for their hard work and academic growth.\r\n\r\nThese resources are now helping us build momentum around academic effort and goal setting. Students are already talking about future STAR benchmarks and what they can do to improve or maintain their performance. Our next steps include continuing to use recognition as part of our instructional cycle—connecting assessment results to reflection, goal setting, and targeted support in reading and math. By pairing academic data with positive reinforcement, students are learning that effort and persistence matter. As students designed their alebrijes, they learned about Mexican folk art and practiced describing their creations in Spanish. Others expressed deep emotion and symbolism through their paintings, reflecting the values of remembrance and celebration that define Día de los Muertos. It was amazing to see them take pride in their work and make meaningful cultural connections beyond the textbook.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to display the students' artwork in the school library so that the entire campus can appreciate their creativity and cultural learning.
