Because of your generosity, my students have been able to have such a meaningful reading experience with books they were genuinely excited about. During the selection process, we did passage studies for each book, then they did a \"second date\" with those that caught their interest. Currently, they read 15-20 minutes a day in class, complete weekly work connected to our essential question, and meet once a week for Book Club discussions (I have been so busy listening in on their discussions, I have forgotten to snap pictures). I have already seen so much growth in the depth of their thinking since that first meeting. \r\n What has been most special is seeing how invested they are in their books and how much they connect to the characters. I have had students so excited about reading that they are leaving the book in class so they do not read too far ahead before their meeting. Some students have already asked for the sequels to Scythe and Dear Martin. I also have three Latina young ladies reading I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter, who are passionately divided between identifying with Julia and Olga, and several students who are immigrants themselves, strongly connect with Raul and Ernesto in The Far Away Brothers. One student even shared that his father came to the U.S. from El Salvador, which made that story feel especially personal.\r\n As a donor, you have made this experience possible.
