We had approximately 150 students to attend the Saturday Schools and the great attendance can be attributed to the incentives and prizes that they were able to have a chance to win. We displayed all of the prizes on the stage and had them to come and look at potential prizes they could win. The excitement was apparent as they picked up items, exclaiming that was the one they were going to win!\r\n\r\nEach week, I put the prize for the week on display and had it ever before the students' eyes. They were very excited to tell their parents that they couldn't miss Saturday School because they wanted a chance to win their prizes. They were okay with the smaller prizes, but they could not wait to spin the wheel to see who the lucky person each week would be. The excitement was so high, parents started to join in and come to see who would be the lucky winner.\r\n\r\nI am very grateful for your support and continued contributions to making my classroom a better place for all scholars to learn and grow! We know many of you are book lovers yourselves, so here's a little window into what these texts are doing in our classroom.\r\n\r\nWhat we're learning through these books\r\nThese texts are helping students practice essential reading skills like identifying themes, making inferences, analyzing character motivations, and drawing connections between what they read and their own lives. Beyond comprehension, students are learning to build vocabulary, strengthen fluency, and develop confidence as readers.\r\n\r\nWhat reading looks like in our classroom\r\nReading time is vibrant and engaging! Students read aloud together, work in small groups to discuss questions, and spend quiet time independently with their books. We use a mix of close reading, partner talk, and interactive activities so that every student feels like a \"real reader\" and has a chance to share their thinking.\r\n\r\nStudent joy in action\r\nOne student who used to hesitate during reading now lights up when it's time to grab one of the new books—she even volunteers to read aloud! Another group of students has formed their own informal \"book club\" at recess, excited to keep talking about the stories. These moments show how powerful it is when students feel ownership and joy in their reading.\r\n\r\nYour support has made these breakthroughs possible. You didn't just put books in our hands—you opened doors for curiosity, confidence, and a lifelong love of reading.","fullyFundedDate":1746808030938,"projectUrl":"project/culturally-relevant-books-for-an-engagin/9148156/","projectTitle":"Culturally Relevant Books for an Engaging Classroom Library","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Meredith","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5354034_orig.jpg?crop=240,240,x0,y40&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1741358193801","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5354034"},{"teacherId":8821294,"projectId":9086773,"letterContent":"As fellow book lovers, you know the magic of getting lost in a good story. Thanks to your generous gift of books, headphones, and snacks, my students are not only reading more but also learning how to engage with texts in deeper ways. The books are helping us practice important skills like identifying themes, making connections, and comparing characters' choices. With the headphones, students can listen to audiobooks at their own pace, which has been especially helpful for reluctant readers who now feel confident following along. And the snacks? They keep everyone fueled and focused, turning reading time into a moment of comfort and joy.\r\n\r\nThe impact has been remarkable. One student who rarely picked up a book has been captivated by listening with headphones and now asks if we can \"read just a little longer.\" Another proudly shares facts from a nonfiction text with the whole class, while a small group enjoys gathering with their snacks and books to talk about favorite characters. Your generosity didn't just provide supplies; it created a space where reading feels exciting, supportive, and truly alive.","fullyFundedDate":1746787104396,"projectUrl":"project/empowering-young-minds-celebrating-bla/9086773/","projectTitle":"\"Empowering Young Minds: Celebrating Black History Through Literature\"","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Thurmon","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8821294_orig.jpg?crop=810,810,x0,y135&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1696515215613","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8821294"},{"teacherId":8547104,"projectId":8958546,"letterContent":"I want to extend my deepest gratitude to the generous donation of equipment for the Cornerstone Prep Denver Broncos.
