Because of your kindness, my students now have access to the technology they need to meaningfully practice listening and speaking skills—two of the most important components of the AP Spanish exam. Having individual headsets allowed every student to actively engage in AP-style audio activities, record their responses, and receive targeted feedback, which greatly increased both their confidence and participation. For many of my students at our public school in the Los Angeles area, this was the first time they had consistent access to this type of academic technology.\r\n\r\nThe impact of your donation went far beyond test preparation. Students felt empowered hearing their own growth as Spanish speakers, and they became more willing to take risks, revise their work, and strive for higher levels of proficiency. The headsets helped create a more equitable learning environment where every student could practice at their own pace and feel prepared for the AP Spanish exam. Your support truly made a difference in their academic journey, and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity you provided my students to succeed.","fullyFundedDate":1758653752504,"projectUrl":"project/success-in-the-new-school-year-ap-spani/9726631/","projectTitle":"Success in the New School Year- AP Spanish Materials","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Harding","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp475350_orig.jpg?crop=533,533,x0,y35&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1757692412193","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/475350"},{"teacherId":6752430,"projectId":9752783,"letterContent":"When my first students saw all the supplies that were donated they were ecstatic! I will be adding a long size mirror in the future and holiday decorations. We will continue to care for the supplies given as time passes.\r\n\r\nSpecifically, the mobile whiteboard has been great to use with my co-teacher. He can along with students work on both sides of the whiteboard to be really engaged. We have had kids race against each other to see who can get the correct answer first. It has been wonderful to see students work in groups together to solve problems. They all appreciate having brand new expo markers because they can clearly see their work. \r\n\r\nThe way my classroom now looks with the college pennants and bean bag chairs is exactly what I imagined, cozy. I love that students can sit and talk and work on math with such ease because they are more relaxed. Some students even choose to use the lap boards to work while lounging on chairs. For students who correct my mistakes or win top 2 in Kahoot they get a starburst. I and my students genuinely thank you for your donation. They literally would not be able to take AP Statistics without the TI Graphing Calculators.\r\n\r\nThe 2022-2023 school year was my first year teaching AP Statistics at our school and I dedicated myself to making the course as engaging and applicable as possible. Well, word got around to the students that the new AP Stats course was a big hit and we got record numbers of students enrolling in the course! The first year none of my AP Stats classes were above 30 students, the next year all three classes were maxed out (35 students) or close to it, and now an extra period of AP Stats had to be added to accommodate all of the interest in learning about Statistics!! \r\n\r\nOur school's library has TI Graphing Calculators available for students to check out, and it was enough for the amount of students enrolled the previous year. However this year, our school's library soon ran out! After asking my students who still needed a calculator, it was clear I needed to find a way to help the students get the materials they needed. With a $100+ price tag, the device may be easy to buy for some families, but for many it's simply not possible. I had my own personal TI Graphing Calculator, which I let the students borrow and share during class, and a few used calculators from my friends, but that wasn't enough for them when they needed to study or work at home. When the calculators came in, the students were so grateful! I couldn't wait to check them out to the students! They made quick work of figuring out the calculator tools needed to do certain statistical skills such as: random number generator, normal curve p-value calculations, binomial distributions, combinations with probability, and more. None of these calculations can be done on a scientific calculator. So, your donation truly opened up the whole world of Statistics for them.\r\n\r\nWhen the students enter our AP Stats classroom now, they automatically take out their calculators in anticipation of using the myriad of functions they have for whatever statistical analysis I might throw at them. While the calculator may be small in size, it truly has opened up a world for them. They are now working at college-level and preparing for the world beyond high school. Your donation is what made this possible for my students who weren't able to buy or check out their own calculators, and I thank you for it. And, more importantly, the students thank you, too.","fullyFundedDate":1757543851625,"projectUrl":"project/calculators-for-enthusiastic-students-of/9686540/","projectTitle":"Calculators for Enthusiastic Students of Statistics!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Smith","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7532634"},{"teacherId":6757691,"projectId":9755694,"letterContent":"I am currently teaching about 130 freshman (Ethnic Studies) and 25 seniors in our AVID college prep elective. I know as my students finish up this year and begin to receive college acceptances and rejections this will be a constant reminder to set goals, work hard and dream big.\r\n\r\nWhen my students entered the classroom after the bulletin board had been put up they were very excited. Many of them commenting on the fact that the pennants represented some of the universities to which they applied. I was surprised when it started conversations not only among my seniors but my freshmen as well. I strongly feel that this will continue to build a college going culture on our campus and it is amazing that all my students and all the students in and out of my room for breaks and club meetings can benefit from this positive messaging.\r\n\r\nAs my seniors graduate and move on to further their education, I hope to start with a new AVID class of freshman.
