My students and I want to take time to thank you for all of the amazing books you have helped provide us the school year! The Dr. Seuss set has been amazing to have in our classroom. A lot of the Dr. Seuss books have sight words and the decodable words we have been working on in class. It has made it easier for my students to pick up a book, and have confidence with reading to be able to read a book from front cover to back cover. The books also allow the students to make connections, and identify words that rhyme together. We also appreciate the Dr. Seuss plushy's that came with the set! We have been talking a lot about characters in books, and allow students to interact with the book while also thinking about the characters. First grade is such an important grade when teaching students how to read, and having real books for students to read out loud, to help them build their reading skills on, makes such a difference in the classroom. Thank you so much again for supporting our classroom project for books, and making a difference in my students' lives! This project has been such a game changer when having students practice counting, comparing, and memory practice. The real big fish game has been a fun game for students to compare length, as well as use math vocabulary when describing length with objects. Students are very excited to play this game during mass time, and during our free Friday time. The squishy dog game has been a great activity with helping students match object together. It also allows them to work together as a team, so students can practice teambuilding skills. Apples to apples has been a fun game for the class as well. They can practice decoding and reading the word cards while they are playing the game together. Trouble has been another fun game we have played this year as well! And allow students to practice counting on, using the dice and board pieces. Last but not least, we have had a blast with the shut the box game! Students can practice fact families, as well as addition when adding the dice together to figure out which number peg to knock down. All of these resources have made a difference in our math block time, and have also allowed students to have fun while learning the math standards! We have had a lot of fun with these materials, and they have helped my students grow in their academics this school year so far. The laminating sheets allow us to laminate resources we are learning about in different subject areas. Examples are alphabet posters, pictures in our reading passages, and anchor charts we have created together. We also want to thank you for the paper protectors. I have been able to create activity binders for students to take home. I put the activities in these paper protectors, so that students can store them when practicing them with their families. We also want to thank you for the headphone holders, which have come in handy when organizing the headphones in our classroom. We also want to thank you for the LED lights, which we light up each day and our classroom. The students get really excited to see the lights on, and it makes the classroom feel more cozy and homie throughout the school day. We also want to thank you for the Velcro number circles. Students are able to find their spots quickly on the carpet, and the number spots allow students to show responsibility when quickly finding their seat and sitting on the carpet during learning time. This project has taken a lot of stress and anxiety off of shoulders, and has allowed many people to have the resources they need in order to feel comfortable at school. One of the resources you provided us were gray cubbies, that students used to store their supplies during the school day. Typically when students have desks, they are tempted to play with their supplies during instruction time. They also get very dirty easily, and on organized with papers. These cubbies have allowed my students to have a sense of responsibility with their materials, and give them access to have a place to store their belongings during the school day. Their cubbies are also clean and organized! Another supply that you have helped us with is for erasers in our classroom. We have a lot of practice using wipe off boards, and the erasers allow my students to erase their work quickly without having to use their hands. The last item you have helped provide for us is laminating sheets. I have been able to prepare vocabulary words and routines that my students can access throughout the school day, and having these sheets laminated gives my students the ability to access them throughout the school year. The lamination sheets are also used to laminate student work to show what work they have been able to complete. They get very excited about showing their work, and the lamination gives their work a nice final touch. The color chalk allows students a coloring break for following the classroom rules, procedures, and showing kindness to one another. The chalk also allows students to write spelling words they are working on, as well as writing numbers 0 to 20, which is something we are learning about in math time. The bubbles have given us the opportunity to Have free play outside during earned rewards! The kids love to run in the bubbles, and they like to have fun laughing and enjoying the weather as we get ready for the weather change. The parachute has been particularly fun to incorporate in our class this year! The first few weeks of school, we learned a lot of community bonding lessons, and how to help one another. I've been able to find some community building ideas that incorporates the parachute, that allow students to work together and learn what it means to work together as a class. Due to the time of year, we have been unable to use our kites yet! During the spring time, when it gets a little bit more windy, I plan on having us use the kites as a class together.
