Because of you, my second-grade students were able to take their first steps into the world of coding, and their excitement has been incredible to witness. Each time we introduce a new activity or challenge, their curiosity and enthusiasm shine through as they eagerly explore, create, and learn.\r\nThrough coding, my students are developing essential problem-solving skills as they learn to think step-by-step, troubleshoot, and try new approaches when something doesn't work the first time. They are also building collaboration skills by working together, sharing ideas, and helping one another succeed. In addition, coding has strengthened their understanding of math and science concepts, such as patterns, sequencing, cause and effect, and logical thinking—all in a fun and engaging way.\r\nOur students especially look forward to Cougar Time each Friday, when they get dedicated time to dive deeper into coding activities. This project has truly reached every student, regardless of ability or socioeconomic status, creating an inclusive environment where all learners can succeed. It has sparked new friendships, highlighted individual strengths, and given students opportunities to shine in ways they may not have experienced otherwise.\r\nYour support is helping shape the future of these young learners by providing opportunities they may not have had access to on their own. It is also opening their eyes to a variety of future career paths in technology and beyond. Thank you for investing in our students and helping them build confidence, skills, and a love for learning that will last for years to come.","fullyFundedDate":1769398247769,"projectUrl":"project/coding-for-creative-thinking/10057105/","projectTitle":"Coding for Creative Thinking","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Cecil","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp5265779_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1526574741436","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ashtoncecil"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_76545","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":387,"numTeachers":33,"percentFrplEligible":76,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":8,"percentWhite":46,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":12,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"11.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":61.2,"schoolId":76545,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Coleman Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Coleman Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/missouri/st-joseph-school-district/coleman-accelerated-elementary-school/76545"}
