It was such a proud and empowering moment for them.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, they were beyond excited. Their faces lit up as they explored the different textures and tools, and they quickly began asking thoughtful questions about how and when they could use each item. It also opened the door for important conversations about self-regulation and understanding their feelings.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, we are continuing to build on these skills by incorporating the calm down corner into our daily routines and social-emotional learning lessons. Students are learning to identify their emotions, choose appropriate strategies, and reflect on how these tools help them. Our next steps include having students set personal goals for self-regulation and even helping to model and teach these strategies to their peers. The items you purchased have made such a difference for my special needs students. The sensory light up fish tube has been their favorite. They were so excited when we first turned it on! They were instantly clapping and asking for different colors. We have used it pretty much every day, multiple times a day. Whenever we are at the rug, we turn it on so they know that when it's on, we should be at the rug. It is very soothing for them- and us! \r\nThe chewy necklaces have also been a big help for my sensory seeking students. \r\nThe sensory tiles are so fun to step on and see the colors swirl.
