I am amazed at what they can do with a little up to date technology. \r\n\r\nIn English class, we were getting ready to begin a new novel, Homegoing, by Yaa Gyasi. As part of the prep they had to do mini research projects on some of the background info. All of the students wanted to use the new MacBook, so they took it upon themselves to create a schedule so everyone got an opportunity to use it. This year they had the idea to make matching shirts for that day. When the materials came in, they were so excited. Most of them had never made a tie-dyed t-shirt before, so this was going to be a first time experience. \r\nThe day we actually made the t-shirts was so much fun. The students were super helpful in getting all the tables and supplies set up outside. They worked really hard tying the shirts together with rubber bands trying to make different patterns. They learned very quickly that tie-dying is a MESSY activity. They were very glad for the aprons! \r\nWe went over the waiting and washing instructions before the students took their t-shirts home. They could not wait until they could open them and see how their patterns came out. The day of the senior picnic they all came proudly displaying their t-shirts. It was definitely a memory they will hold on to forever.
