I am a 10th grade teacher in the Mississippi Delta at a Title I high school. 100% of our student body receives free lunch. My goal as a teacher is not only to educate students in the art of the English language, but also to facilitate learning in a way that is empowering to my students and allows them to take ownership of their educations and therefore their lives. My students are vivacious and eager learners who continuously strive to figure out the "why." Their natural tenacity and curiosity makes our classroom a haven of exploration and discovery. Our class motto is "learning is messy." In my classroom students are encouraged to ask the big questions and step boldly into the unknown. Despite their economic hardships, my students are determined conquer the world.
