Our class was able to finish our testing for both math and reading on time, because we did not have to wait our turn for the shared school headphones! These headphones also worked great for those computer apps we use for recording our voices reading such as with Learning a-z, and with Seesaw. \r\n\r\nStudents love using headphones with attached microphones! The microphones do a much better job of blocking out room noises when students are recording. They feel like grown ups while using the microphone, like pilots, call center representatives, or hanging out in the recording studio. Students learned quickly that they don't have to hold the microphone to their mouths, they record well!\r\n\r\nThe children that needed the flexible seating, use them everyday. This includes a wobble cushion, a foldable cushioned floor chair, and a foot kick to help with the wiggles while doing work. These items will continue to be used to support students as they need them year after year.\r\n\r\nThanks again for supporting us so well this year! Our classroom runs more efficiently when our supply needs are met. Plus the students feel just a little rebellious writing directly on the table! You have donated to a few of my projects, so I know you are rooting for our Oregon students!\r\n\r\nYour donations have impacted two grant projects for our classroom, enabling us to get new tables that encourage collaboration and dialogue. We hit a snafu in the process when I was notified that the original tables we had on our wishlist were no longer available. Oh no! I began to search through DonorsChoose partnered vendors to find the same type of tables. I kept finding similar tables, but much smaller in size...now that would not accommodate us at all! I expanded the filter choices and found the exact shape and size tables as originally requested, BUT...drumroll please! The table tops were whiteboards!!!\r\n\r\nNow the gift became gift 2.0! Once I told students that our new special tables were on the way, they were so excited! However, I did not tell them about the shape, nor about the whiteboard top. They just loved the idea of getting new tables that did not rock and weren't bowed in the middle. My plan was to put them together to have them ready when they walked into class in the morning. It was like prepping for Christmas morning. \r\n\r\nThese tables are weighty and sturdy, so students aren't pushing the tables around when they push their chairs back to stand up. It is so nice to not have to \"arrange\" the tables and chairs at the end of each school day, to reset the classroom. Please enjoy the photos in this first phase of thank you. The print press has been an incredible addition to our art room, and we began using it right away in February to celebrate Black History Month by studying printmaker Robert Blackburn. Students from kindergarten through eighth grade explored printmaking techniques such as monoprinting, and every student was able to successfully use the press and create a finished piece they were proud of. When students first saw the press, there was an immediate sense of excitement and curiosity. Many had never seen or used a tool like this before, and it quickly became something they viewed as both special and accessible. Watching them realize \"I can do this\" has been one of the most rewarding moments.\r\n\r\nSince then, we've continued incorporating the press into additional projects, and I see it as a long-lasting tool that will inspire students for years to come. It opens the door for students to see themselves as artists while also understanding the printmaking process as both a historical and evolving practice. Our next steps include expanding into more layered print techniques and connecting traditional methods with digital approaches, helping students see how older processes are being revitalized and combined with new technologies. Students are especially engaged in this connection, and they genuinely enjoy the tactile and visual results of their prints.
