My students are at the age where they absolutely love to come to school, love to learn, and love to help others! Each year my students are at all different levels of understanding, but they rise to the challenge and do their best starting right where they are and advancing in their zone of proximal development. Some students excel and perform above grade level, and some are still learning their basic alphabet sounds or number sense, while others may be newcomers to the country and speak little to no English. Our classroom consists of 4 tables that seat 6 students each. We have a teacher table where small group work for literacy and math are taught, a reading area with 2 childsize couches, and our meeting area on the rug where the bulk of instruction happens. Our classroom is smaller than most, but we work together to keep it organized so the physical space does not deter from the important learning!
