Books have a special way of healing kids in ways that nothing else can. I’ve watched kids struggling with grief and trauma pick up the perfect picture book and suddenly understand the nature of loss. I’ve sat side by side kids in classrooms who read a book about difference and tolerance who turn toward their classmate with changed hearts. I’ve read books about emotions to kids who develop stronger self-awareness and self-control after just a few pages. My students deserve access to the scores of wonderful social emotional learning books that are out there! Help me build my library so that they can see themselves in the pages.
