There was an immediate buzz of excitement throughout the room.\r\n\r\nThe bookcase has already made a huge difference in our classroom. With books displayed at students' eye level and organized in an accessible way, students are spending more time browsing, discovering new genres, and independently selecting \"just right\" books. During our daily independent reading time, I have noticed students reaching for books they may not have found before and enthusiastically sharing recommendations with their classmates.\r\n\r\nOne special moment happened when a student who often struggles to find books that interest him discovered a series on our newly organized shelves. He excitedly told me he couldn't wait to read the next book and immediately added it to his reading list. Moments like that remind me how important access to books truly is.\r\n\r\nAs we finish the school year, students are continuing to build their reading stamina and explore a variety of genres. Through Peter Pan and other classic literature, students are practicing important skills such as identifying themes, analyzing characters, understanding story structure, and using evidence from the text to support their ideas. The writing resources also guide students through planning, drafting, revising, and reflecting—helping them see writing as a process rather than a one-time task.\r\nReading in our classroom is active and engaging. Students read independently, in small groups, and together as a class. We pause often to discuss characters' choices, make predictions, and connect the story to our own lives. Students annotate, talk with partners, and use graphic organizers to organize their thinking before writing.\r\nSeveral students who were previously hesitant readers are especially enjoying these books. Having access to multiple editions and varied reading levels allows every student to participate with confidence. Some students are excited to compare different versions of Peter Pan, while others are proudly sharing their own rewritten chapters and book reviews with classmates.
