They're now more eager to participate. Students who were already excited for music class were able to enjoy music videos, rhythm reading exercises, classic concerts, and movement activities. With the television and stand, I was able to present a google slides presentation tailored for each of the 21 sections of students that I work with. \r\n\r\nThe true benefit of this project was convenience and organization. The television and stand allowed me to avoid using a projector where students would walk in front of the screen, students would hurt their eyes, and also allowed me to avoid needing to move a media cart back and forth when I wanted to project. The learning environment has truly been improved, and students have developed a strong love for music and instruments. They are always engaged when Legos are involved. This is especially true for older students who get less hands on experience as academic rigor increases. These legos have provided hands on learning in engineering and science. Students have been able to learn about gears, levers, axles, and pulleys to build cool creations.\r\nThese Legos are a critical element in our elementary Makerspace that will provide ongoing use for GATE, afterschool programs, science fair projects and lego clubs to enrich student learning. These experiences promote curiosity, problem-solving and collaboration with their peers. I can move the TV around as I change the room layout to be developmentally appropriate for each grade band. This is important when accommodating 900 students through out the school year. I see different grade bands every trimester.\r\nEveryone is able to see the TV. I can show images, demonstration videos and sample lessons on screen. In addition to equitable access to instruction, students have been using this media platform as a way to share their own projects. The classroom setup allows them to speak and show their creations. This kit allowed me to get started with Lego engineering and learn how to use the lessons on the Lego Education site. I was able to use this set to build different carnival rides. Lego Education offers curriculum for Crazy Carnival Games and other science integrationed lessons.\r\nThis kit and others from another grant were used in a girls tech day and about 50 girls were able to build with legos. We have used the legos that you helped us get across multiple subjects! \r\nIn writing, students created something and then wrote a story about the item(s). In the slideshow you might see a zoo! \r\nIn math, students used a Lego to represent their whole and then they needed to show understanding for various parts of the whole. I am using the headphones both with the students' individual Chromebooks and also with a small set of tablets that I have for students to use at a small center rotation. \r\n\r\nStudents are able to be fully engaged with hearing the academic activity they are using on a Chromebook or tablet, without the noise distracting other students. The headphones also help the user to focus better, as the background noise is curbed quite a bit while they are wearing them. \r\n\r\nAll of students have been so excited to use the headphones!
