My students are inquisitive and curious, and truly appreciate a hands-on approach to academics. Many students are second language learners, who require more visual and manipulatives to retain and internalize classroom curriculum. The school is 85-90% free and reduced lunch, with 65% of the student body speaking English as a second language. The school is in Title 1 reform, but has an API of 795. The school itself was built to house 275 students and with all of the portable additions, the student body stands at 807 students. With most of the other campuses in the district being rebuilt with an emphasis on technology, my school was passed over in spite of housing one of the largest school populations in the district. The faculty is truly dedicated, and our administration team is strong, but we are lacking technology resources that most other students in the same district have the chance to utilize every day.
