Many of our students come from a low socioeconomic community where access to fitness resources is limited, so seeing high-quality weight room equipment in their own school was truly empowering. Students eagerly began learning proper lifting techniques, goal setting, and teamwork as part of our health and wellness curriculum. One powerful moment came when a group of students who had never used gym equipment before worked together to spot and encourage each other, showing confidence and pride in their progress. These resources are helping our students build not only physical strength but also discipline, leadership, and self-esteem. Moving forward, our next step is to incorporate fitness tracking and personal goal-setting projects, helping students understand how commitment and perseverance lead to measurable growth—both inside and outside the weight room.","fullyFundedDate":1666967935051,"projectUrl":"project/a-weight-on-their-shoulders/6832023/","projectTitle":"A Weight on their Shoulders","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Walker","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8699864"},{"teacherId":9088017,"projectId":9221760,"letterContent":"The highlighters and headphones have made an impact because students are becoming better at annotating informational text. They actually enjoy it more because they get to color code their annotations in order to help them better understand the text. \r\n\r\nFor instance, students took a writing test and they were able to answer the writing prompt with satisfactory because they had the highlighters to help them pick out relevant information to support their claim. \r\n\r\nAlso, the headphones made a difference in several different ways. First, I have a student that can't speak English, so I have to translate all documents, and have him listen to those documents online until his English improves this year. This student wrote to me in Spanish and it said thank you for making me feel included in our class community. \r\n\r\nNext, I have students that need headphones as an accommodation to block out noises and/or need stories read to them. These headphones help me to accomplish that goal.\r\n\r\nIn conclusion, I am thankful for every donation and your kindness to help my students be successful.","fullyFundedDate":1746113025879,"projectUrl":"project/highlighting-a-path-to-greatness/9221760/","projectTitle":"Highlighting a Path to Greatness!","teacherDisplayName":"Dr. Wilson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9088017"},{"teacherId":9088017,"projectId":8654193,"letterContent":"The generosity of donors who provided essential classroom materials such as Jenga games, chairs, a rug, playing cards, pencils, and buzzers has made a profound impact on students' learning experience and overall classroom environment. These seemingly simple items have transformed the space into a more engaging, interactive, and student-centered setting where learning feels dynamic and enjoyable. The Jenga games and playing cards have been especially useful for reinforcing literacy skills through engaging activities that promote critical thinking, vocabulary development, and collaboration. Whether students are using Jenga blocks to practice sight words or playing card games to build comprehension strategies, these materials have added an element of fun that encourages deeper participation in English Language Arts (ELA).\r\n\r\nBeyond academics, the chairs and rug have created a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere that fosters a sense of community in the classroom. The rug has become a central gathering spot where students engage in read-alouds, discussions, and small group activities, making literacy lessons feel more inviting and interactive. The addition of buzzers has heightened excitement during review games and competitions, promoting active recall, quick thinking, and friendly competition—all of which help build students' confidence in their reading and writing skills. Meanwhile, the simple yet essential pencils ensure that every student has the tools they need to participate fully in lessons without barriers. Thanks to these donations, students are not just learning ELA skills; they are developing a love for reading, writing, and collaboration in a vibrant and stimulating classroom environment.","fullyFundedDate":1733237499016,"projectUrl":"project/middle-school-interactive-learning-envir/8654193/","projectTitle":"Middle School Interactive Learning Environment","teacherDisplayName":"Dr. Wilson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9088017"},{"teacherId":9785382,"projectId":8843177,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, I have been able to create a warm, inviting, and comfortable space for therapy sessions at Charles Hart Middle School. The new resources have transformed my office into a place where students feel safe and valued, making it much easier to build rapport and engage them in meaningful conversations. The calming décor and cozy seating have been instrumental in helping students feel at ease, allowing us to focus on identifying and understanding complex moods and emotions. \r\n\r\nThe fidget tools have been especially popular! Students on my caseload often use them during sessions to stay grounded and express themselves in new ways. Even students who are not on my caseload have stopped by to check out the space, drawn in by its inviting look from the hallway. This has opened doors to conversations about mental health and well-being, normalizing these discussions among our student community.\r\n\r\nWith this new environment, students are not only more comfortable sharing their thoughts and feelings but are also developing better coping skills. Your contributions have made a lasting impact, and I look forward to continuing to support my students in this space you helped create. Your support in providing essential period products including: period panties, pads of various sizes, and body wipes has made a profound difference in the lives of our students. In an underserved area where access to basic hygiene products can be a challenge and expensive, your kindness has helped ensure that our students can focus on their education without the worry of bleeding through their underwear and pants.\r\n\r\nYour contribution has created a ripple effect of empowerment and reassurance throughout our school. Many of our students, primarily African American young women, have often faced the difficult choice of missing class due to a lack of necessary period products.
