We use these resources every morning during our soft start and again during free-choice time. Students are building, experimenting, and problem-solving from the moment they walk in the door.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments was during a recent morning learning block when a group of students used the magnetic tiles and gears to design a \"moving playground.\" They tested different combinations, adjusted their design, and proudly shared it with the class. It was an incredible example of teamwork, persistence, and creativity—exactly what I hoped these materials would inspire.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the STEM toys, their faces absolutely lit up. Many of them gasped, cheered, or immediately began imagining what they could build. The sense of wonder and excitement was priceless, and it hasn't worn off—they ask for STEM time every single day!\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, these materials will continue to support our hands-on learning, especially as we explore engineering challenges and simple machine concepts later this year. Students will use these tools to plan, build, test, and redesign their ideas, strengthening both academic and social skills.\r\n\r\nThank you for giving my students the opportunity to think like engineers, collaborate with peers, and learn through joyful exploration. They gasped, cheered, and immediately started pointing out their favorite colors and spots. To them, it felt like a brand-new classroom — a space made just for them.\r\n\r\nWe now use the rug every single day during our morning meeting, reading mini-lessons, partner activities, and closing circle. One of my favorite moments so far was during a read-aloud: as soon as I invited them to the rug, they scrambled over with huge smiles and settled in so comfortably. They were more focused, more engaged, and so excited to learn together in our new gathering space.\r\n\r\nThis rug has created a warm, welcoming place for us to build community and learn side by side. It has truly become the heart of our classroom.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we are beginning a new reading unit where students will practice retelling, character study, and partner reading. The rug will be our main learning spot for these lessons, giving students room to talk, share ideas, and build confidence as readers. It brings us together in a way that helps every child feel seen, safe, and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nThank you for giving my students a space that brings joy and comfort into their school day.
