The chair is for students who finish their work! Can't sit there if you owe me assignments, so it's a great incentive and reward. Recently, I had a student submit a writing task after working for an hour and then head straight to the chair, beaming. He looked at me and said, \"I'm finished!\"\r\n\r\nThey were excited to see something new in my already warm and friendly space. It made them feel even more welcome.\r\n\r\nIn the future, I would like to add two more chairs where small groups can rotate through and experience a different work space. \r\n\r\n(I usually sit in it during my lunch! Thanks!)\r\n\r\nThe organizational cabinet has been housing the magazines I have for students to view, so they can be more aware of genres of writing and identitfying containers for magazine articles found on online platforms. I have started migrating some hard copies of readings, handouts, and chapters from our books for annotation practice into the cabinet. I will be adding some new classes next year that will fill up that space.","fullyFundedDate":1768771602775,"projectUrl":"project/get-organized-get-access/10040452/","projectTitle":"Get Organized! Because of your donations, my students have access to important everyday materials that help our class run smoothly and make learning more enjoyable. The pencils have already been put to great use—students are able to quickly grab one when they need it instead of worrying about not having supplies. The glue sticks have been especially helpful for our interactive notebooks, which we use regularly to organize notes, complete activities, and keep track of key ideas throughout our units. The paper you provided has also allowed me to print assignments, worksheets, and learning materials that students use during lessons and for practice.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the new materials, they were incredibly excited—especially about the snacks. Many of them immediately expressed gratitude and were eager to pick out a pencil to use for their work. The snacks have been particularly meaningful because they help students stay focused and energized during class. Having a small snack available can make a big difference, especially for students who may not have had time to eat earlier in the day. It created a sense of excitement and appreciation in the classroom, and students were quick to say thank you to the people who made it possible.\r\n\r\nYour support truly makes a difference in our classroom community. The first afternoon the supplies arrived, students helped sort sketchbooks, paints, and markers with real excitement. One student said, \"These are actually nice.\" That statement mattered. It signaled dignity. During our first project, students designed visual narratives that connected personal identity to academic goals. They planned drafts, revised designs, and presented final pieces to peers. Engagement remained high throughout the session. No one asked to leave early. Snacks were placed on a side table, and students quietly refueled before working. Focus improved immediately. Conversations shifted from \"I'm tired\" to \"Can I add another layer to this?\"\r\n\r\nWe are using the materials to reinforce core academic skills. In a recent lesson, students created mixed-media infographics that explained a math or literacy concept they struggled with. They had to research, outline key ideas, and visually represent the content with accuracy. This required critical thinking, organization, and revision. Students who typically hesitate to participate volunteered to share their work. The healthy snacks have also changed the tone of our sessions. Behavior issues have decreased. Students stay longer. They complete assignments before leaving. Energy levels remain stable, which allows us to push for deeper thinking and higher expectations.\r\n\r\nNext, students will begin a collaborative design challenge focused on career exploration and goal-setting. They will use the art supplies to prototype solutions to real-world problems in our community. We will integrate reflection journals to strengthen writing skills and metacognition. The snacks will continue to remove a basic barrier, allowing students to sustain effort. Your support did more than fund materials. It strengthened attendance, persistence, and confidence.
