They view the devices not as a crutch, but as a high-tech tool that validates their presence in the classroom.\r\nThe impact is most visible in our newly arrived immigrant students, who initially sat quietly, overwhelmed by the language barrier. One of my quietest students, who arrived just a few months ago speaking very little English, completely transformed after using the device; they went from leaving math worksheets blank to eagerly volunteering to show their work on the board. Seeing the relief on their faces when the device translates a complex multi-step word problem, followed by the immediate spark of recognition as they realize they already know how to solve the math, is incredibly moving.
