I am a sixth grade teacher in Anchorage, Alaska. I have an active group of 24 students. They love to work together and share their ideas with their classmates. Many of my students have been at Rabbit Creek since kindergarten. They are a close knit group. Our sixth grade classrooms are all outside in relos (portables). This has both benefits and challenges. It has become a school rite of passage to graduate to a relo. We are the last stop before middle school. As such, it is my job to prepare my students for the transition from elementary school. Our school is composed of low income families, many of which receive free and reduced lunch and also high income families that have many different experiences that some students can't even dream about.
