Since we are a math class, it's so important that each student has a pencil and an eraser. My students love that they don't have to stress if they forget a pencil for the day—they know we have plenty for them to borrow, whether it's just for class or for the entire day. They are also more willing to make mistakes knowing they have erasers, and they especially love that the erasers are colored. It adds a sprinkle of fun to our classroom.\r\n\r\nThank you so much for the materials. My students are enjoying them, and so am I. It makes teaching less stressful knowing I don't have to worry about supplies.","fullyFundedDate":1758146555324,"projectUrl":"project/math-binders-for-success/9443385/","projectTitle":"Math Binders for Success","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Martin","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8283367"},{"teacherId":9589593,"projectId":9173974,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of our classroom through DonorsChoose. Because of your kindness, our students had the opportunity to engage with high-interest graphic novels that transformed how they experience reading—and for many, how they feel about themselves as readers.\r\n\r\nIn our special education reading classroom, many students face daily challenges with decoding, comprehension, and maintaining focus. Traditional chapter books can often feel intimidating or out of reach. But when the graphic novels arrived, something incredible happened: their faces lit up with curiosity, excitement, and most importantly—confidence.\r\n\r\nThe combination of visual storytelling, expressive artwork, and concise dialogue helped our students follow narratives in a way that made sense to them. The visuals provided essential context clues, guiding them through emotional moments, plot twists, and character development. For students who process information best through visual and sensory input, these books were more than just readable—they were relatable.\r\n\r\nI watched students who once hesitated to pick up a book suddenly flipping pages with enthusiasm, pointing out details, discussing scenes, and making predictions. They were invested. They understood. And they felt successful.\r\n\r\nYour donation didn't just provide books—it gave my students access, agency, and a renewed sense of joy in reading. These are moments that will stick with them as they continue building their literacy skills and discovering who they are as learners.\r\n\r\nFrom all of us in Room A104, thank you for believing in our students and making this experience possible. Your generosity made a real and lasting difference.","fullyFundedDate":1744232286183,"projectUrl":"project/graphic-novels-for-growing-minds-boosti/9173974/","projectTitle":"Graphic Novels for Growing Minds: Boosting Literacy in Special Education","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Konold","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9589593_orig.jpg?crop=2400,2400,x0,y304&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1720730301226","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9589593"},{"teacherId":8111710,"projectId":9202122,"letterContent":"I can't thank you enough for your donation! I have already planned so many fun and exciting activities around these graphic novels. I'm hoping to inspire a love of Shakespeare in my students. I think every child I Mamet is should know some Shakespeare- he is so incredible! \r\n Kids need to learn to analyze literature and deep think, reading Shakespeare is such a great way to do this. I attended a showing of Macbeth this summer and just kept thinking how amazing Shakespeare is at emotions and capturing human nature- I hope my students will be able to see some of this during the school year. \r\n Thank you again! Because of it, my students have been able to expand what they read here at school. The graphic novels have been such a hit!! Especially because some of them are graphic novels that are at a higher level, so my students who read higher don't feel like they have to read normal books anymore. I have gotten tons of compliments and book check outs of the New Kid series by Jerry Craft. \r\n\r\nStudents have also loved the brand new Harry Potter books. My old ones were falling apart and missing pages. I have students that have read the books before, read them again because the books are in such fabulous condition!\r\n\r\nThank you again, so much, for contributing to my classroom library. Thank you for your generous support of our book project through DonorsChoose. Thanks to your contributions, our classroom has been transformed into a vibrant learning environment where the love of reading is flourishing among my students.\r\n\r\nThe new books have reintroduced a love of reading that is crucial for our students' continual love of reading. They are learning to analyze themes, understand character motivations, and draw connections between the text and their own lives. This exposure not only enhances their comprehension skills but also fosters critical thinking and empathy. In our classroom, reading has become an engaging and collaborative activity. \r\n\r\nI would like to highlight a few instances where my students have been particularly impacted by these new resources. Several of my students, who previously have struggled with reading, have shown remarkable progress and now enthusiastically participates in group reading sessions. Other's have found a new favorite genre and have been inspired to participate in the Battle of the Books competition our school puts on. These stories are just a glimpse of the positive change your support has brought about.\r\n\r\nThank you once again for your generosity and for making a significant difference in the lives of my students.
