We are incorporating yoga into PE every week. Research is showing that yoga and mindfulness can help students improve focus, behavior, self-regulation and academic performance. Students are introduced to beginner level yoga routines that teach them basic yoga poses and deep breathing. As students progress, the complexity of the yoga routines will increase, so students are continually being challenged. Students are also being taught the importance of mindfulness and deep breathing in stress management and coping skills. A mat for each student will improve every student's yoga experience. Mats help students feel more comfortable on the gym floor, as well as giving them each their own space for the routine.
