Students were immediately excited and eager to use the new seating, and that excitement carried into their learning. We use the seating during small-group instruction on the carpet, whole-group lessons for students who need to be closer to the board, and especially to support learners with IEPs or other learning needs. The seating has also become a valuable tool during silent, calming time, helping students regulate and refocus. I've noticed that students are more motivated, engaged, and willing to complete their work when they are comfortable and given choice in how they learn.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, I plan to continue rotating different seating options and pairing them with engaging activities to keep students excited about learning. One area where this has already made a big impact is reading—students are more eager to settle in with a book and explore stories they love. As we begin our Famous American research projects, students will read books about a historical figure of their choice and truly \"become\" that person. They will even dress up as their chosen Famous American when presenting to the school and families. The flexible seating has helped foster curiosity, confidence, and a love of learning, and I'm excited to see how it continues to support student growth and creativity.","fullyFundedDate":1760359627819,"projectUrl":"project/comfy-seating-for-focused-and-happy-lear/9822115/","projectTitle":"Comfy Seating for Focused and Happy Learners!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Thompson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10069308"},{"teacherId":10317632,"projectId":9841753,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our classroom! We are already using the new resources every day, and they've made an immediate difference in how students learn and engage. The flexible seating options—floor seats, wobble cushions, stools, and yoga balls—have helped students find ways to sit that work best for their bodies while staying focused. During math lessons, students use the dry-erase lapboards and erasable pens to quickly model their thinking, try out strategies, and revise their work without fear of making mistakes. One of my favorite moments so far was watching a student who often struggles to stay seated stay fully engaged during a lesson simply because they could wiggle while they worked.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their excitement was contagious. They were eager to try out each seating option and carefully chose what felt best for them. The fraction tiles were especially popular—students immediately began building and comparing fractions, explaining their thinking to classmates using the colorful pieces. The markers and multicolor pens have also added a sense of joy to our daily work, making practice and collaboration feel more creative and inviting.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, our next steps include deeper hands-on learning and more student-led discussions. Students are currently using the fraction tiles to explore equivalent fractions and will soon move into small-group problem-solving projects where they explain their reasoning using lapboards and visual models. The flexible seating continues to support a classroom environment where students feel comfortable, confident, and ready to learn. Because of you, our classroom has transformed into a space filled with comfort, creativity, and possibility. The new desk chair has made student conferencing and planning more effective. At the same time, the Bouncy Bands Wiggle Wobble Feet have been especially supportive for active learners who need quiet movement to stay engaged and focused. Students are also enjoying the \"A Little SPOT of Holidays\" book set, dry-erase materials, Who HQ Civil Rights biographies, the Minecraft graphic novel set, and our new TAPPLE word game. These resources have strengthened reading interest, collaboration, curiosity, and classroom joy.\r\n\r\nOur room lit up when the stained glass winter coloring books, gel pens, and pencil pouches arrived, and many students used these materials to stay busy and creative over winter break. For some, these were the only art supplies they had access to at home, and they took great pride in creating and organizing their work. The blank story books have inspired new writing projects, and reluctant readers have been especially motivated by the graphic novels and activity resources you helped fund.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in our students and investing in their futures.
