Our students have already benefitted a great deal from a number of new things we were able to do. Since receiving the items, we have been able to pair verbal and non-verbal students together to play games that encouraged each to push their own boundaries in order to have fun. With gamified lessons, we have been able to create a more collaborative environment for our special education population, to include general education students. This helps foster community, as well as reducing the stigma of being a special ed student.\r\n\r\nThank you for reminding my students there is a community outside of our school that is here for them.","fullyFundedDate":1768675337160,"projectUrl":"project/social-skills-tools/10002119/","projectTitle":"Social Skills Tools","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Bush","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10400553"},{"teacherId":10400552,"projectId":10002521,"letterContent":"This project has made a meaningful difference in how my students engage with language learning every day. The headphones have allowed students to access authentic listening resources at their own pace, which is essential for building real-world comprehension skills in Spanish. Instead of passively listening as a whole class, students are now actively engaged, replaying audio, slowing it down, and truly interacting with the language. They are also able to record their own speaking, which gives me the opportunity to provide targeted feedback while helping them reflect on their own progress. For many of my students, especially those who need a quieter environment, the headphones have created a focused, distraction-free space where they can feel more confident practicing a new language.\r\n\r\nWhat has been most exciting is seeing how much more ownership students are taking over their learning. They love being able to hear themselves speak and track their improvement over time. Students who were previously hesitant to participate out loud are now more willing to practice because they can do so privately first. In particular, my students with learning differences have really benefited from this technology. The ability to control volume, pacing, and repetition has made the content far more accessible and less overwhelming, which has led to increased participation and confidence.\r\n\r\nBeyond the technology, the impact of the snacks and art supplies has been just as important. Having access to snacks throughout the day has helped students stay focused and ready to learn, especially for those who may not always have reliable access to food. The art supplies have allowed every student to fully participate in creating their interactive notebooks, which are a key part of how we organize and process new material. Together, these resources have created a more equitable, engaging, and supportive classroom environment where all students can thrive.","fullyFundedDate":1768677545641,"projectUrl":"project/classroom-support-for-languages/10002521/","projectTitle":"Classroom Support for Languages!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Prosser","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10400552_orig.png?crop=1530,1531,x0,y229&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1776427624808","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10400552"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_59911","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":2208,"numTeachers":110,"percentFrplEligible":52,"percentAsian":5,"percentBlack":27,"percentWhite":34,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":25,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"20.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":80.4,"schoolId":59911,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Brooke Point High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Brooke Point High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/virginia/stafford-county-school-district/brooke-point-high-school/59911"}
