Since receiving the items, we have set up our raised beds and converted our garden into a butterfly oasis. We planted native vegetation that will attract atala butterflies, zebra longwings, and monarch butterflies. This will support local wildlife and encourage our students to study and monitor these species. \r\nWe also used the beds to grow tomatoes and herbs, which our students grew from seed in our classroom before planting in the raised beds. \r\n\r\nThank you for fueling our student interest and harvesting hope! It is a motivation for completing assignments, a strategy to attain peace and calmness within while doing assignments, and a way for students to connect with each other and express themselves. We used embroidery in botany for students to learn about different organisms and interpret them thought needle and thread.\r\nMy students were ecstatic upon receiving this grant! The much needed materials gave them more options and resources so each student can have their own hoop, ready to use in class.\r\nAt this moment students are conducting research and growing a garden in school, these activities are being used to supply ideas and design motifs for their embroidery. I encourage them to pick up the needle whenever possible and that is becoming a routine for some students. I am trying to reach out to most students to give embroidery a try as I do not believe they should be forced to do it but rather encouraged to explore and learn without judgement. Unfortunately some students do not want to try embroidery because they are not (yet) able to produce a \"quality\" product but that is also part of learning. Part of my job was contain and direct their enthusiasm to a project of their own making.\r\nThe next step in this project is to prepare and complete their experimentation phase, plan the \"launching\" of their products to their peers in our school, and collect customer satisfaction data.
