Because of your kindness, my elementary art classroom now has enough paper for every child—more than 500 students in grades K–5—to create their very own sketchbook. Watching each student hold a sketchbook that truly belongs to them has been incredibly meaningful. Your generosity has provided not just materials, but opportunities for creativity, confidence, and artistic growth.\r\nHaving a personal sketchbook offers countless benefits to young artists. It gives students a safe place to explore ideas freely, make mistakes without fear, and experiment with new techniques as their skills develop. Sketchbooks encourage persistence, allowing children to return to their drawings over time and see their progress right before their eyes. They also help students strengthen fine motor skills, practice visual thinking, and connect art to their personal experiences and imaginations.\r\nMost importantly, the sketchbooks have given my students a sense of ownership and pride. For many of them, this is the first time they've had a dedicated space to create art that travels with them throughout the year. Each page tells a story—of discovery, joy, curiosity, and creativity. Thank you for believing in the power of art education and for giving my students the tools they need to express themselves. Your support has made a lasting impact, one sketchbook at a time.","fullyFundedDate":1755744366325,"projectUrl":"project/back-to-the-basics/9509875/","projectTitle":"Back to the BASICS!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Eggers","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6757257_orig.jpg?crop=2448,2448,x816,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1566682629624","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6757257"},{"teacherId":9651030,"projectId":8863400,"letterContent":"February 18, 2025\r\nHorace Mann Insurance and Financial Services\r\nAttn: Susan Krantz, Reed Hodgson, and David Mekelburg\r\n\r\nDear Susan Krantz, Reed Hodgson, and David Mekelburg,\r\nWe hope this finds you warm and well! On behalf of the Billie Martinez Elementary School community, we want to extend our sincere gratitude for your generous donation towards the creation of a sensory regulation room in our school.\r\nThanks to the equipment and materials you donated, we have created a specially designed room to support students in managing their sensory and social-emotional needs. This safe and soothing space is particularly beneficial for students with sensory processing challenges, including those on the autism spectrum, with attention deficit disorders, and/or social-emotional trauma.\r\nThe regulation room has activities and tools that promote self-regulation and enhance core postural stability, balance, bilateral integration, and fine visual-motor skills. Students can engage in gross motor activities and receive vestibular or deep proprioceptive input using equipment like trampolines, steppingstones, balance boards, tunnels, \"sit-n-spins,\" and exercise balls. For calming effects, the room features dimmed lights, weighted blankets, a quiet corner with pillows, a tent for flashlight reading, and aquatic scenery paired with soothing music. Additionally, tactile exploration is encouraged with materials such as kinetic sand, shaving cream, Orbeez, and water.\r\nBy providing a variety of sensory tools and calming activities, the room has significantly helped our students to self-regulate their emotions and behaviors, leading to improved social skills, increased focus, productivity, and learning outcomes.\r\nYour contribution is more than just an investment in our classroom; it ensures the success of our students. Thank you again for your generous support of our school—it will benefit and be appreciated by many!\r\n\r\nWarmest Regards,\r\n\r\n\r\nJoan McNeill Occupational Therapist Billie Martinez Elementary School","fullyFundedDate":1732119777682,"projectUrl":"project/sensory-room-a-place-to-support-learni/8863400/","projectTitle":"Sensory Room: A Place to Support Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Joan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9651030"},{"teacherId":9231617,"projectId":8576807,"letterContent":"To begin the books the Minecraft book set were very popular among students. All these resources help make our classroom run smoother and give them a better fourth grade experience.\r\n\r\nThe next steps for my classroom are to laminate other materials we often use.
