Families are so busy.\r\n\r\nDid you know that a couple of years ago our high school science teacher taught a class about food science and found out that 90% of his class had no idea how to boil an egg? This was a general education classroom, now imagine a special education classroom. Our students with disabilities often need more support and practice to learn to prepare food. Feeding ourselves is a life skill everyone needs in order to survive independently. \r\n\r\nBy giving to our project, you have allowed my students to practice with real kitchen utensils and appliances to create food. Not just any food, but fun food, healthy food, delicious food and food for the soul. My students are practicing reading recipes, learning math with measuring, practicing safe food preparation and enjoying the food they have created. Often recipes feed more than one person so they get to share, build relationships and feed other people's souls.\r\n\r\nOur classroom is the one you can smell down the hall.
