The futon/couch has been a huge incentive for students. They ask permission to use the couch and have to demonstrate literary readiness to stay there (awake, following along in the text, pausing to take annotations). The competitiveness over the couch has also encourage students to come early to class to be the first to get permission. The fidget/wiggle stools have been used on a case-by-case basis to help students stay in the room during a shared reading and focus while still moving their bodies. Thank you so much for your generosity! These materials enhance the learning in my classroom and make students feel more welcomed and comfortable.
