Benjamin Franklin athletes are athletes the dedicate themselves to a program that promotes and provides the overall development of its participants as an athlete and student. Our student athlete population entails African American young men who reside in low-income areas. The program is an opportunity for many students to hinder from the crime infested inner-city area that can be so appealing to many young men. For many student athletes, the program is a ticket out of the violent lifestyle. Benjamin Franklin's football program is unique to many others in that it allows neighboring students to join its team. The welcoming openness to join builds a sense of community and trust that is not always present in the area. It allows its members to realize and adopt a sense of unity and teamwork.
