Being able to see through their structures encouraged students to think more deeply about how pieces connect and how designs hold together. The clear bricks inspired imaginative play and creative problem-solving in ways that surprised even seasoned builders.\r\n\r\nThanks to this project, students are now expanding their engineering challenges by combining the clear bricks with other materials to design more complex structures. While many donors may be familiar with technology at home, in our classroom this 3D printing technology is a powerful learning tool. Students use it to design, problem-solve, and think critically as they move from an idea on paper to a physical object. We have also used this technology to create fidget and calming tools for our classroom, helping students design items that support focus, self-regulation, and emotional needs. Through this process, students learn that mistakes are part of learning as they revise and improve their designs.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for students is seeing their digital designs become real, tangible objects. Watching a fidget or calming tool they designed print layer by layer is incredibly motivating and meaningful, especially when they know it will be used to support themselves or classmates. It gives learning real purpose and shows students that their ideas can positively impact their learning environment.\r\n\r\nSeveral students who typically struggle with engagement or self-regulation have especially connected with this technology. Some students who learn best through hands-on experiences have thrived, while others have taken pride in creating tools that help them stay calm and focused.
