I have asked for your help in acquiring a class set of headphones for my students to use. My teaching partner and I have applied for and been approved to receive a class set of computers in the classroom to use full time. In addition to our core whole group instruction and small group support, we will be integrating technology to create individualized instructional programs for our students to use that meets each child at his/her specific level. We have already begun to integrate literacy and math programs with our students with great success; however, headphones for the students to use consistently are hard to come by. By integrating technology into our daily learning routine, we are increasing students' engagement, achievement, and technological literacy. We are able to modify the learning activities/projects to meet students' individual needs, but they need to be able to listen to the lessons using headphones in order to gain the maximum benefit. I teach in a Title I school, where most families cannot afford to provide their children with headphones, so it is up to the teachers to make sure students have all the tools they need to be successful.
