Knowing that members of our community and even complete strangers believed in my vision enough to give my students an outdoor space was truly meaningful to me. So much of our school day is spent indoors, often under fluorescent lights and away from the natural world. When I realized that others understood and supported my vision, I felt both excited and relieved. It reminded me that I am not the only one who believes children need opportunities to step away from screens, breathe fresh air, and reconnect with nature.\r\nSoon after the project was funded, we began receiving boxes filled with materials. The students were so curious and excited to discover what was inside each one. Every time a new box arrived, it felt like Christmas morning in our classroom. Each box seemed to bring with it a new sense of hope and excitement for the experiences we would soon be able to create together. Because of this project, students were provided with a peaceful outdoor space featuring natural lighting and soothing sounds from nature. This environment allowed them to complete their work, read independently, and collaborate with classmates while working in groups or with the teacher.","fullyFundedDate":1777951644974,"projectUrl":"project/outdoor-sanctuary/10240105/","projectTitle":"Outdoor Sanctuary","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Llado","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp3638380_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1468304835119","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/rachel-rillorta"},{"teacherId":438154,"projectId":10237339,"letterContent":"The generous donations of outdoor equipment and games have made a meaningful impact on our first grade classroom. Our new resources have transformed outdoor time into an opportunity for students to build teamwork, problem-solving skills, confidence, and positive relationships with their classmates. When the materials first arrived, the students were incredibly excited to see all of the new possibilities for play and learning. Their enthusiasm was contagious, and they immediately began imagining games they could create and play together.\r\n\r\nAs we continue our current classroom lessons, students will build on these experiences by exploring teamwork, community, and problem-solving. We plan to have students work in small groups to create their own outdoor games, write or draw the rules, and teach their classmates how to play. This project will allow students to practice communication, creativity, writing, and collaboration while using the wonderful resources made possible by our donors. We are so grateful for the opportunity to provide our students with meaningful experiences that extend learning beyond the classroom walls.","fullyFundedDate":1777948673495,"projectUrl":"project/outdoor-play-and-storage-for-1st-grade/10237339/","projectTitle":"Outdoor Play and Storage for 1st Grade Classrooms","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Alanis","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp438154_orig.jpg?crop=1884,1884,x0,y828&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1777438492432","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/438154"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_7191","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":286,"numTeachers":14,"percentFrplEligible":93,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":5,"percentWhite":25,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":58,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":6,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"20.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":91.6,"schoolId":7191,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Beethoven Street Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Beethoven Street Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/los-angeles-unified-school-district/beethoven-street-elementary-school/7191"}
