My students are a wonderful group of first graders from California. Our school is a Title 1 school, meaning than most of the kids that attend receive free or discount meals. Many of my students come from families that cannot afford a home computer, so the only opportunity many get to use one is at school. Many of our students are also second language learners with limited life experiences. Computer knowledge and competency is the key to a successful future and my kids deserve the chance to compete with those from higher socio-ecomomic backgrounds who have the means to support technological skills.
