The \"I feel, I can\" poster has helped them identify their emotions and find functional strategies to manage big feelings, leading to more independence and problem-solving skills. One of the biggest hits has been our stuffed weighted wolf, affectionately named Mr. Wolf, students often ask to visit my room to give him a hug when they're feeling sad, frustrated, or just need a moment of comfort. He's become a true source of calm and connection. The visual timer has also been an incredible tool for helping with transitions, allowing students to physically see when their time is almost up and prepare themselves accordingly. \r\n\r\nWe'll continue using all of these tools throughout the year to support emotional regulation, problem-solving, and social-emotional learning in a way that feels safe, supportive, and engaging for every student.","fullyFundedDate":1754852349232,"projectUrl":"project/feelings-friends-and-fidgets-oh-my/9550506/","projectTitle":"Feelings, Friends, and Fidgets... Having a small space has always made it tricky to keep materials organized and accessible, but with these new supplies, I was able to set up my room for success. Everything now has a place, which makes transitions smoother and helps my students stay engaged and focused during sessions. With our new story books, we've been able to launch themed, literacy-based speech units that target a variety of goals. This month we used \"The Leaf Thief\" to target our speech sounds, \"WH\" questions, and sentence building with a variety of engaging activities.\r\n\r\nWith our great organized start to the school year, our next steps are to continue our literacy-based speech therapy units that follow the themes of each season. Thanks to your generous contributions, we now have materials to support engaging lessons for fall, winter, and spring, along with plenty of fun holiday-themed activities along the way!\r\n\r\nWe'll be using the glue and smelly markers to incorporate more hands-on arts and crafts into therapy, targeting all areas of language through creative, interactive projects. The new stand-up organizer cart has made such a difference, it keeps everything accessible so students can focus on the activity itself rather than searching for materials. The colorful book holders have also been a huge help in organizing sentence strips, articulation pages, and other key resources we'll be using all year long.\r\n\r\nOne of our favorite recent lessons was during our \"There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Bat\" unit. We taped the \"Old Lady\" to one of our new book organizers, and the students had so much fun \"feeding\" her while formulating sentences about what she ate. It was a perfect blend of laughter, creativity, and language growth—all made possible thanks to your support!","fullyFundedDate":1754818768279,"projectUrl":"project/small-space-big-voices-speech-room-mak/9546028/","projectTitle":"Small Space, Big Voices: Speech Room Makeover","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Annie","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10023018_orig.png?crop=683,683,x330,y440&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1754500868676","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10023018"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_101873","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":203,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":93,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":23,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":68,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":76.8,"schoolId":101873,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Aspire College Academy on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Aspire College Academy","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/oakland-unified-school-district/aspire-college-academy/101873"}
