Because of your generosity, we were able to build cubbies that give our Global Academy students a dedicated place to safely store their farm gear and supplies. With so many students participating in our program, organization is incredibly important. Instead of aprons, gloves, boots, and other materials being piled up or carried back and forth each day, students now have their own organized space where their belongings are easy to find and ready when it is time to head outside.\r\n\r\nThe cubbies have already made a huge difference in how smoothly we transition from the classroom to the farm. Our students take care of animals, work in the garden, maintain our farm spaces, and participate in hands-on environmental projects, so having their equipment organized means we can spend less time searching for supplies and more time actually learning and working. It has also given students a greater sense of responsibility and ownershipâthey are expected to keep their space organized and take care of their own equipment.\r\n\r\nWe are so grateful that you chose to invest in our students and our program. These cubbies may seem like a simple addition, but with hundreds of students moving through Global Academy, they have made our classroom more functional, organized, and ready for all of the hands-on learning ahead. Starting on the first day of school, I began handing out raffle tickets to students with no explanation. Are you participating in our group conversation? Here's a raffle ticket. Did you pick up that piece of paper that was on the floor, even if it wasn't you who dropped it? Here's a raffle ticket. As is often the case with middle schoolers, other students started to notice the pattern and my classroom shifted from the awkward silence that often predominates on the first day of school to excitement about what the tickets represent. \r\n Once the snacks were delivered, I introduced them to the J-Shop and they cheered. Yes, really. They cheered. The idea that there were tangible rewards for effort and citizenship instantly changed the culture of our classroom in a way where apathy was no longer cool. \r\n When I explained to them that strangers funded our little shop, they were shocked to know that there are people who care about them and who are rooting for them. What a valuable lesson for them to learn on the first week of school! We already had a pair of these tools, but during our sculpture and mixed-media projects, students often found themselves waiting for a turn to use them. Expanding our supply has made a noticeable difference in the flow and pace of our studio environment.\r\n\r\nWe are using the glue guns during three-dimensional design projects, sculpture units, and mixed-media artwork that require quick and durable assembly. One of the biggest changes has been the reduction in wait times. Instead of students pausing their creative momentum while standing in line for a tool, more students can now work simultaneously and remain engaged in the artistic process.\r\n\r\nStudents immediately noticed the difference when the new glue guns arrived. Several commented that projects moved much faster and that they appreciated being able to continue building and experimenting without interruptions. Having additional tools available has allowed students to spend more time creating and less time waiting.\r\n\r\nAs we move into future sculpture and design projects, these additional glue guns will continue to support larger classes and more ambitious student work. Students will be able to construct more complex pieces, experiment with a wider variety of materials, and collaborate more effectively with classmates.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping us improve not only what our students can create, but also how they experience the creative process. While locks may not seem as exciting as art supplies, the students immediately understood their importance. Many of them take tremendous pride in seeing their artwork selected for display, and knowing that their pieces are now better protected has made those exhibitions feel even more meaningful and professional.\r\n\r\nWe are already using the locks to secure student artwork displayed throughout the school. One memorable moment came when students preparing work for exhibition asked if their pieces would be \"safe in the case now.\" Being able to confidently answer yes reinforced that their artwork is valued and worthy of protection. It sent an important message that their creativity and hard work deserve to be treated with care and respect.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the locks installed, several commented that the display cases looked more like those found in galleries and museums. That simple change helped elevate the importance of the work inside and encouraged students to take even greater pride in craftsmanship and presentation.\r\n\r\nOur next steps include continuing to rotate student exhibitions throughout the year, showcasing a wider variety of media, grade levels, and special projects. These secure display spaces allow us to celebrate more student artists while ensuring their work remains protected and available for the entire school community to enjoy. Your donations have made a meaningful impact on our students' learning experiences and have provided resources that would not have been possible without your kindness.\r\n\r\nThis year, your contributions helped us obtain the materials needed for our Theatre 1 Masks Project and our Technical Theatre Prop Food Design Unit. Through the Masks Project, students explored character development by designing and creating original theatrical masks. They learned how physical appearance, movement, and expression can help tell a story and bring a character to life. In Technical Theatre, students used a variety of materials to create realistic prop food items, gaining hands-on experience with design, construction techniques, and creative problem-solving.\r\n\r\nThe excitement in the classroom was immediate when students first saw the materials arrive. Many had never worked with professional-quality art supplies or specialized theatre materials before. Their enthusiasm was contagious as they eagerly began brainstorming designs, sketching ideas, and discussing how their creations could be used on stage. Watching students transform simple materials into unique masks and realistic props was one of the highlights of the school year.\r\n\r\nOne memorable moment occurred during our mask presentations when students stepped into character for the first time while wearing masks they had designed themselves. Students who are often quiet or hesitant in class demonstrated newfound confidence and creativity as they performed. In Technical Theatre, students were amazed at how cardboard, paint, papier-mĂąchĂ©, and recycled materials could be transformed into convincing stage props. Their pride in their work was evident as they showcased their creations to classmates.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, these materials have helped lay the foundation for exciting learning opportunities in the upcoming school year. I will be welcoming a new group of students into Theatre 1, where they will continue exploring character development through mask work and performance techniques. I will also be introducing new Technical Theatre students to prop construction using cardboard, papier-mĂąchĂ©, and recycled materials, as well as costume design and basic sewing techniques. These hands-on projects will encourage creativity, collaboration, craftsmanship, and confidence while exposing students to the many career pathways within the performing arts.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has done far more than provide supplies. It has given students opportunities to create, imagine, and discover talents they may never have realized they possessed. Thank you for investing in arts education and for helping us provide meaningful, engaging experiences that inspire young artists every day.","fullyFundedDate":1757428979745,"projectUrl":"project/stage-their-future-support-our-theatre/9515013/","projectTitle":"Stage Their Future: Support Our Theatre Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Vinas","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9097328_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1689051473605","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9097328"},{"teacherId":9280117,"projectId":10209467,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your support by donating to our project for the 8th Grade Class of 2026 to receive their promotion certificates in their covers.
