While many donors use printers at home, in a classroom setting this tool becomes a bridge between digital learning and hands-on understanding.\r\n\r\nThe printer allows me to quickly provide students with immediate access to materials—whether it's guided notes, practice worksheets, graphic organizers, or review activities. Instead of waiting or going without, students can actively follow along, annotate, and interact with content in real time. This is especially important in math, where showing work, writing steps, and practicing repeatedly are key to building confidence and mastery.\r\n\r\nWhat excites students most is the ability to have their own copies of resources they can use, mark up, and even take home for extra practice. They feel more prepared and less stressed knowing they have everything they need in front of them. It also allows me to differentiate instruction more easily—printing targeted practice or enrichment activities that meet students exactly where they are.\r\n\r\nI've seen particular growth in students who benefit from hands-on learning and organization. Some of my students who struggle with staying focused or keeping track of digital assignments have really thrived with printed materials. Having something tangible in front of them helps them stay engaged and take ownership of their work. I've also had students express pride in completing and organizing their printed assignments, which has boosted their confidence.","fullyFundedDate":1769177948641,"projectUrl":"project/print-it-see-it-learn-it-math/9758671/","projectTitle":"Print It, See It, Learn It, Math!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Volkman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3159503_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1617835289756","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-volkman"},{"teacherId":3159503,"projectId":9681380,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for this donation. \r\nIt's been such a great way my students can do calculating and creating all at the same time.\r\nThe students are able to create new ideas with this 3d printer.\r\nIt has been a great fit to our classroom and addition to our math club on campus.\r\nIt's so awesome to be able to teach the students how to manage a 3d printer like this. \r\nThe students are able to use computer programs to create and then build their own personal 3d printer. \r\nIt's truly a blessing to add different things to our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1758063558154,"projectUrl":"project/math-clubbin-and-3d-printin/9681380/","projectTitle":"Math Clubbin' and 3D Printin'!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Volkman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3159503_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1617835289756","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-volkman"},{"teacherId":8363318,"projectId":9292831,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for making such a tremendous difference in our classroom! Your support has transformed how my students engage with learning, and I'm excited to share the incredible impact your donations have had.\r\n\r\nThe LCD writing tablets have been an absolute game-changer for our claim and evidence practice sessions. The tablets allow them to write, erase, and revise, giving them the confidence to experiment with their ideas freely. Students use the double sided dry erase boards alongside the LCD tablets to practice structuring their claims and supporting evidence. They've become essential tools for peer collaboration - students can quickly share their thinking, get feedback, and make revisions on the spot. The boards have made our writing process more dynamic and interactive than ever before.\r\n\r\nYour supply caddies have brought order and excitement to our interactive notebook work. Each caddy is thoughtfully stocked with highlighters for marking evidence in texts, staplers for securing our work, post-it notes for quick annotations, and glue sticks for assembling our learning materials. Students can now access everything they need independently, which has increased ownership of their learning process.\r\n\r\nYour investment in our classroom has given my students tools that make learning feel like play while building essential academic skills. Every day, I see the confidence these materials have instilled in my students, and I know the impact will last far beyond this school year.","fullyFundedDate":1746787018190,"projectUrl":"project/equipped-to-excel-community-centered-cl/9292831/","projectTitle":"Equipped to Excel: Community-Centered Classroom Supplies","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Clutter","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8363318_orig.jpg?crop=1075,1075,x300,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1723669519658","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8363318"},{"teacherId":3159503,"projectId":9671896,"letterContent":"When the financial literacy resources arrived, my students were thrilled. They immediately wanted to dive into the games and activities, and their excitement filled the room. During our first lesson, we used Monopoly Deal to practice quick decision-making about spending and saving. Students laughed, debated, and even argued over \"financial strategies,\" all while applying real-world money concepts without even realizing they were learning.\r\n\r\nThe pretend checkbooks and money packs have already made a huge difference in connecting lessons to real life. One student proudly shared, \"I finally understand how to balance a checkbook—it's not as confusing as I thought!\" Others enjoyed the responsibility of writing checks and recording transactions, treating the activity like a real-life simulation. The cash envelopes and budget planners quickly became favorites for students who like structure, helping them see how small spending choices add up over time.\r\n\r\nThe reactions have been priceless—lots of smiles, \"aha\" moments, and even requests to play and practice outside of class time. These resources make financial literacy interactive, hands-on, and fun, and they're showing students that money management is a skill they can truly master.\r\n\r\nNext, we'll be starting personal budget projects using the teen budget planners and financial literacy books. Students will create a realistic monthly budget, track expenses, and reflect on their choices. With these tools, they're not just learning about money—they're building confidence for their futures.\r\n\r\nThank you for giving my students this opportunity. Your generosity has made financial literacy come alive in a way that will stick with them long after they leave my classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1756934817635,"projectUrl":"project/math-and-finances-life/9671896/","projectTitle":"Math and Finances = LIFE","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Volkman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3159503_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1617835289756","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-volkman"},{"teacherId":3159503,"projectId":9299732,"letterContent":"When our new resources arrived, the energy in the classroom completely shifted. My students were immediately curious—leaning over desks, asking questions, and brainstorming how we could use the materials in different ways. One student said, \"This looks like something we'd use in the real world!\" and that really captured the excitement in the room. For so many of my students, math can sometimes feel abstract, but these resources helped them see it in a concrete and engaging way.\r\n\r\nOne of our first projects was a hands-on activity with recipes. Students worked in small groups to take a basic recipe and scale it up or down depending on how many servings they wanted to make. At first, they thought it would be simple, but quickly realized that converting fractions, doubling or halving ingredients, and working between measurement systems (cups to tablespoons, ounces to grams) required careful attention. Suddenly, math wasn't just numbers on a page—it was the key to making something they could actually imagine creating at home.\r\n\r\nThe reactions during this lesson were priceless. A few students lit up as they made connections to cooking with their families. One shared that she helps her grandmother make tamales during the holidays and never understood why the measurements had to be so exact. Another realized that his favorite cookie recipe at home could be scaled up to make enough for his entire basketball team. These were moments of connection that went far beyond the textbook, and it was only possible because we had the new resources to make the learning real.\r\n\r\nThe best part of this project was watching students collaborate. They debated the best ways to show their work, double-checked each other's conversions, and celebrated when their group got the same result after working separately. I could see their confidence building—not just in math, but in their ability to problem-solve and communicate with each other.","fullyFundedDate":1749138407142,"projectUrl":"project/recycle-and-math/9299732/","projectTitle":"Recycle and Math!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Volkman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3159503_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1617835289756","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-volkman"},{"teacherId":3345132,"projectId":6736556,"letterContent":"My students have benefitted immensely from the materials in this project. Building relationships with students is key in promoting buy in from them on their own learning and success. I do this by trying to see my kids as individuals and recognizing them in positive ways however and whenever I can. \r\n\r\nThe materials for motivation: the cards and stickers really help my kids feel valued. Even as high school students they LOVE these simple reminders that they are doing well and that they are seen. \r\n\r\nUsing these tools, I can increase buy in and they trust me to help them learn what they need to, so when I introduce a book like Nickel Boys, they are excited to experience it with me. We enjoy reading Nickel Boys and discussing the difficult issues it brings to light: poverty, racism, education gaps, violence. The text is engaging, challenging and enlightening. Les Misérables has been incredibly rich for teaching multiple literacy skills like character development tracking through Jean Valjean's transformation from bitter ex-convict to compassionate father figure and identifying themes of justice, redemption, and social inequality. We've also been able to research to understand the historical context and how it shapes narrative (post-Revolutionary France). Students have also been able to think critically about moral dilemmas faced by characters like Javert's adherence to the law vs. Valjean's moral compass; they've also discussed how social systems impact individual choices. \r\n\r\nOur reading of Les Misérables follows various approaches. Most days begin with a brief discussion of key questions from the previous reading. Then, students read. Sometimes students read independently, highlighting passages that connect to themes or that simply resonate with them. Other times, students read in small literature circles where students take on different roles (discussion leader, passage analyzer, historical context researcher) or paired reading where students support each other through challenging passages. We also have whole-class Socratic seminars where we debate the choices characters make. Some of our creative responses include journal entries from characters' perspectives. One particularly successful activity was our \"character tribunal\" where students defended or prosecuted different characters based on their actions, using textual evidence as their legal arguments.\r\n\r\nA few students who struggled with reading comprehension have shown growth through our Les Misérables journey. The audiobook option we provided helped them overcome initial text complexity barriers. Also, another student's engagement completely transformed with this text. Previously disinterested in classics, she became fascinated with the historical context and now regularly brings in additional research about post-Revolutionary France to share with the class.\r\n\r\nYour donation has not just provided books—it has opened new worlds of understanding, empathy, and intellectual growth for our students.
