They were most excited to see the paint and clay!\r\n\r\nSince receiving our new supplies, we have already had a chance to put them to use across several subjects. My students created story stones to share their learning about Native Americans which gave them a chance to use the acrylic paint pens. We used the materials during science when they created devices that allow us to \"see sound.\" I also have a handful of students who are working on independent passion projects and have used the supplies for their final presentation. Up ahead, we are working in a reading unit about inventors, and students get the chance to do some inventing of their own!\r\n\r\nOn a personal note, thank you to my family, friends and community, once again, for your support. Thanks to your support, I was able to purchase light covers and a lamp that significantly softened the harsh fluorescent lighting in our learning space, and the difference has been clear and immediate.\r\n\r\nThe softer, warmer lighting has noticeably reduced the jittery, overstimulated energy that bright fluorescents often create. Students arrive and settle more quickly, and transitions between activities are smoother. With the improved lighting, students seem more comfortable and focused; I have observed increased participation during lessons, longer sustained attention during independent work, and more curiosity-driven questions during instruction. The new lamp and light covers reduce glare and eye strain, helping students read and work for longer periods without fatigue. When students' eyes are comfortable, their brains can concentrate on learning rather than on physical discomfort.\r\n\r\nThere have also been positive social and emotional effects. Several students who were often restless or anxious now appear calmer, and the gentle lighting creates a more welcoming, less clinical environment that supports emotional regulation and respectful interactions. For example, a third-grade student who previously left center activities early now completes assignments more consistently and volunteers answers during group discussions. During reading time, more students read quietly at their seats rather than moving around or asking for breaks; their reading stamina and comprehension check-ins have both improved. Small-group math lessons are noticeably more productive, with students maintaining focus and collaborating with fewer reminders to refocus.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in our classroom environment. These relatively simple changes—light covers and a lamp—have had an outsized effect on student wellbeing and learning. Your gift has improved physical comfort and supported the social, emotional, and cognitive conditions that make learning possible.","fullyFundedDate":1755800901645,"projectUrl":"project/bright-ideas-gentle-light/9597723/","projectTitle":"Bright Ideas, Gentle Light","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. McBride","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10178101_orig.jpg?crop=1206,1205,x0,y164&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755206894018","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10178101"},{"teacherId":3345354,"projectId":9431076,"letterContent":"The start of a new school year is always exciting.
