We started a new curriculum this year and are working hard to design more play areas that are related to our new units. One of the new units we will be learning about is \"Geography and the World Around Us\". We learn so much through play and experiences, so we are VERY excited to have a new Airport for dramatic play with these fun materials that you have purchased for our classroom. \r\nWe will be starting this unit in the February. Students will get to create a plane side out of cardboard with cut-out windows. There will be a cockpit with controls for the pilot, dress up materials for the pilot and stewardess, a luggage check, a world map to show where students are traveling, passports and country stamps to show the places students have visited, and several other learning opportunities to practice new vocabulary.\r\nWe plan to use this play area as an informal assessment for the geography unit. Students often share more of their learning through play and conversation than on a paper-pencil test. We will continue to get creative with adding more dramatic play options for students to explore.
