This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students in my class are very enthusiastic and love learning new things. As the pandemic hit our state, our local hospital was in dire need of chemical splash goggles. Knowing this, our students didn't hesitate to give them what little supply we had. Our students are kind and generous and always willing to help anyone in our community.

My Project

Zebrafish are often used in scientific research to help investigate human health concerns such as lead poisoning and cancer. My students recently examined the various toxins found in e-cigarettes and their harmful effects on Zebrafish embryo development. This exposure to real science and live organisms has inspired them to continue this line of research and carry out independent projects. However, this type of work comes at a cost, and additional aquarium supplies are necessary. When students decide to do longer-term projects on a bigger scale, they need more supplies than my budget can afford. Please help me deliver my students the materials they need to continue doing what they do best: learn from new experiences.
